@Avalon68 I know you mentioned in an earlier post that you don't work for Bullfrog--just curious as you seem to at least know the guys--what's the reaction been like to the initial reviews for Crime of Passion? Here's one:

I've been drinking beer for well over a decade. I've had a lot of good beer and a lot of bad beer. Crime Of Passion is probably the worst beer that i have ever had. It smells like diapers, old Indian food and regret. It tastes like nail polish, water from Chernobyl, rusty nails and rigor mortis. Getting this down the hatch was difficult as i almost threw up, so i had to pinch my nose so i would not smell this death trap while drinking it. COP ended up in the dirt, and i feel sorry for that dirt, but i had to do what to do. This beer should have been dumped a long time ago and not sold to the public, so that is strike one for Bullfrog in my book, and this is a brewery I have a lot of respect for. I heard descriptions of this beer from my group consisting of ' mothballs, ranch dressing, nail salon and probably the most fitting just downright awful. Avoid at all costs, dont trade for this beer, if you get it as a extra, extra it back to somebody else with a 'drink at your risk' sticker on it. Chances are if you extra this beer out to somebody it will probably return in another box later down the line.

If you are going to quote a member give them credit.
I believe the review was done by @BARFLYB maybe he cares to elaborate on it?

Also there is a thread in the trading help forum concerning CoP

That is a pretty damning review. Ouch.

I had one and it was really, really bad. I don't see how they thought this should be released if they actually tried the beer before selling it. I just think they realized they had a terrible, terrible beer and didn't want to dump it, so why not sell it along with the grrrz hype train?

The odd thing that I noticed about this beer though is that the bottle date on the label says June of 2013. Were these beers bottled and sitting around for a few years or something?

yeah exactly..makes me feel like the over the course of a couple years they kept trying it hoping it would eventually be "ready", or change to the point of not tasting like garbage, but after a couple years they just gave up and sold it without really caring if it was good

They totally took advantage of the situation, pretty low

Someone should ask them the drink one.. maybe entice an 'Al's' type reponse

Maybe it needs a few more years....the garbage smell/taste will evolve into something fantastic?

Opened mine with @Fahmie25 this past weekend just out of curiosity, and yup it was terrible. The fact that this was the most expensive of the group allowed them to really ride the hype train on this. I saw the review in question and immediately told the person I was trading the beer to, to rethink the trade bc I genuinely felt bad trading the beer to him. Glad I didn't because it tasted smelled like nail-polish and was painfully sour and with a rusty nail taste to it. I wish there was a way to get my money back from this beer, or that they send those who purchased the beer, something to replace this to make it right. After waiting overnight, this shouldn't be a beer that should be allowed to be released, at least in that forum.

Wishful thinking, if this was the case, Bullfrog should have told people to hold their bottles and give an enjoy after taste, or just straight up not release the beer until then.

I sent an email to the brewery inquiring about Crime of Passion, but I've only heard crickets so far.
Not feeling great about those guys anymore, very dissapointed.

Did anyone who signed up for a Pub Club Membership during the Friday release hear or receive any type of confirmation from Bullfrog? Are we to get some type of actual card or e-mail to verify that we are members?

Yeah, I suspect we won't hear anything from whoever is the bullfrog "insider" or whatever. Some of these breweries are great at promoting/responding when things are good, but go full radio silent whenever an issue arises...but just in case here's another tag @Avalon68

i have to comment about this guy right here ^^^

we set up a trade for the grrz set + CoP. after he shipped, i found out about how bad CoP was and asked him about it. he offered for me to send back the beer and cancel the trade even though he shipped already. i thought about it for a bit and told him i'd roll the dice and keep the trade.

he then told me he's going to send me a different bottle to replace the CoP, even though i never asked for it.

iamjo is a 100% stand up dude and is really what this hobby is all about. you guys have a keeper on your hands up there in NY.

That is fantastic. The exact opposite of my experience with CoP. This dude right here is a boss.
