The thread about the Top 10 has mentioned beer in grocery stores. Let's make a list of the states that allow grocery store sales.

    WA
    OR
    CA
    NY.

PA allows it with restrictions. All beer has to be sold in a separate "cafe" area, and one can only purchase a 12 pack or less at a time (there's an exact amount of fluid ounces, but I can't remember it off the top of my head).

Yes in all 3 states I've lived in: Georgia, California, and Hawaii. One difference I've noticed in the 3 states I've lived, you can buy liquor/spirits in the grocery store in Hawaii and California, but not in Georgia. Just an interesting observation.

No alcohol restrictions in grocery stores here in Iowa. The selection usually isn't good, except hyvee they have more beer than most bottle shops.

Think it's 192 (twelve 16 ounce bottles). But many places are staffed by "forgetful" register attendants, who condone a person leaving and reentering. Slightly convoluted, but an improvement over the zero ounces we've suffered through for some time.

I did a stick count of the link that @jesskidden provided and by my reckoning
    • 7 states are "No"
    • 5 states are for 3.2 beer only
    • 5 states are listed as "variable" or something similar
So, it would appear that in 33 states beer sales are unrestricted for beer like craft beer. Definitely a majority at 66%.

It would be interesting to 'adjust' this for state population (i.e., what percentage of the US population can purchase craft beer at supermarkets).

    Cheers!

I am on the border of NY and CT. In CT there is beer in grocery stores. In NY there is beer anywhere. Gas stations, the pharmacy, bodegas, etc.
