I did a SMaSH with Maris Otter and Mosaic and it was very blueberry and fruit loops forward. I wouldn't use it again by itself.

Mosaic not be my favorite SMaSH.
Pairs well with Simcoe b/c it's its spawn.

My palate sees -- please pardon the oxymoron -- it more as an accent hop.

Nope. I love this shit! Single hop in a pale ale or IPA ....money! Very complex.

I definitely get some blueberry, thanks for pointing that out. The flavor I don't like might be "gooseberry", never actually had one but I see people use it and beer descriptors all the time. They are said to be similar to Muscat grapes which would make sense for me

I did one with a blend of Mosaic, Citra and Falconer's Flight that came out great. My only complaint is that the hops were starting to fade even as I was finishing drinking the batch.

I agree with it dominating. Used it 3 times or so, and each time it overshadowed the other hops. I'll use it in minimal quantities next time. Made a black IPA with Simcoe and Mosaic with a 1:1 ratio. I'll use maybe 2:1 Simcoe next time.

Good thing about Mosaic is... you can actually find it now...as opposed to Nelson.

Anyone ever wonder why they named Mosaic after a hop virus? : )

@StJamesGate posted the below in a past thread:

"Mosaic can taste like anything, from blueberry to mango to stone fruit - that's how it got the name; a mosaic of flavors."

    Cheers!

For many american varietals I dry hop at around 13-14 ounces/barrel/varietal. I find mosaic to be much better as a supporting hop to add a light fruity character. As many have stated, mosaic can overpower most other hops. For my beers using mosaic I add 8 ounces/barrel.

I've made plenty of good Mosaic and Mosaic + other hop varieties (Simcoe, Equinox, Citra, Amarillo, & Galaxy mainly) IPAs, DIPAs, saisons and wild/sours...in the dozen or so batches I've done, none have disappointed and an all Mosaic Brett saison won 3rd at a local comp. Citra + Mosaic is what makes Fresh Squeezed so amazing as well. It's an incredible hop in my opinion.

I've had great results with mosaic across the board with all sorts of other hop types. I always get tropical fruity, stone fruit, citrus or dank flavors from it.

I really enjoy Victory Hop Ranch which I believe uses Mosaic and Azacca. I do get a strong blueberry like flavor from that beer.

I'm starting to hear more about this hop.

Victory distributes here, but not Hop Wallop or Hop Ranch ( I believe). Is there a Victory equivalent of Sierra Nevada Bill? : )

They discontinued hop wallop around the time they introduce hop ranch and dirtwolf. Hop ranch is seasonal, but dirtworlf has pretty wide distribution from what I know. Dirtwolf has "Whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic hops" according to their site

Good to know...my son said Dirtwolf is even better than Hop Wallop...I just love the little 49er from Hop Wallop, though. : )
