So.. I've had 3 of this style in the past 3 days...

    DFH - Festina Peche
    Ithaca - Cruiser
Victory - Mad Kings (quite clearly a hefe though, thanks for pointing it out)

Now.. I normally drink pretty much ONLY Pale Ales, IPAs, DIPAs, Pilsner.... but HOLY CRAP THIS STYLE IS INCREDIBLE.

I need some suggestions... are any regularly imported that I could try? Anyone have one (domestic or imported) they absolutely love? I've been in the craft beer scene for about 5 or 6 years now... and this is complete and utter SHELL SHOCK for me... hahahahah

    Thanks in advance... :grinning:

    You're welcome.

(pretty sure you can't get it in your area though, so you can disregard my comment:grinning:)

Try some locals from Jack's Abby or White Birch.

I don't think I've ever actually seen a Berliner Weisse around here. Actually have been kinda interested in trying one, but... since I've never actually seen one in stores so far, haven't had the chance.

Sorry to have to let you know this, but you can scratch one from your list. The Victory Mad King's is not a Berliner. Its a hefeweizen.

I definitely plan to pick up Jack's Abby Berliner Wheat Lager this weekend... White Birch i'll have to search for... my shop only carries 3 varieties...

I just wish someone distributed a Berliner Weisse to this area because I've looked everywhere for them and have yet to find one. What you have listed though looks pretty good.

Fair enough... but the yeast definitely gave it a different funk than most hefe's ive had

Night Shift in Everett, MA has great weisse beers, they sell out fairly quick, I think next up is Ever Weisse.

I wish their distribution was a bit more consistent... will definitely be ISO around town...

Wouldn't be too hard to swing a trade for de Garde Bu Weisse. One of the few beers they actually distribute and only $5 or so for a 750ml bottle. I could send some your way if you're interested. I'm also a big fan of Creature Comforts Athena which you can get canned in 6 packs for summer adventures.

Another I've had in state, on draft and bottle, was Bear Republic Tartare, and it was excellent!

The JA Berliner is good, but I wish it had been a bit more tart. It's 3.5% though and super refreshing so that's a plus! It's begging for a can...

I wouldn't be surprised if Jack's Abby has improved their lagerized take, but neither is a favorite for me. Bruery Hottenroth is the best easily available one I know of, though I wish it was more affordable and in 6 packs. The only German version I've seen around is a little less sour but great, Professor Fritz Briem 1809.
