So I went to the local beer store on the way home from work this week and I was checking out just buying a Sour Monkey bomber I saw they had a couple 4 packs of Founders Black Rye marked down from 12.99 to 5.99. Bottle date said Dec'14, wasn't sure how this beer would age, but still seemed too good of deal to pass up so bought one. Had it last night and still a good beer, very smooth, I'm a fan of this one.

So what's the best markdown / deal you found on a beer from regular retail and did you buy it?

I also had bought couple of 6 packs of GI Ten Hills Pale Ale for 5.99 couple weeks back, originally 9.99, so got me thinking about this. (I know not great beer but was decent lawn work /grilling drinking beer for that price)

Weyerbacher imperial pumpkin 4 packs were marked down similarly to your black rye,$13.99 to $5.99.still had a couple months before the best buy date, but it was definitely out of season and needed to go.luckily I was happy to clean house at that price

Just bought an Appalachian Coffee Stout bomber marked down to 2.99 from 9.99. I have no idea how old it was , but who cares with a coffee stout.

And another one, lvivske white lion,a Ukrainian wheat beer was on sale for well over a year at 99 cents per 16oz bottle.really good beer for that price, and they kept getting new shipments of it in so I thought it was an indefinite deal.but I go in the bottle shop a couple weeks ago,all of a sudden all their beers are $2.49 :slight_frown:

Anyone from New York will relate to this:

Found 1 year aged KBS on the shelf for 7$/bottle

I thought someone was playing a joke on me. Someone in that store def screwed up- in NY KBS usually has 2 bottle limit And is about 12-14$/bottle

I saw a bunch of deals on pumpkin beers after this fall. One place had all pumpkin beers at $5 for a 6-pack. Another had Ichabod at $5 for a 12-pack a month or so later.

One good markdown I came across once was Ten Fidy 4-packs at $8.99. Picked up a couple at that price.

This. I constantly see last years pumpkin beers on sale in spring/summer. However, I'm not sure any price constitutes a "great" markdown on this stuff.

The best markdown I saw worth buying was Hopslam on sale for $14.99 a sixer at about a month old. That was years ago, before the stuff evaporates these days.

A store up in NH was going out of business and had Goose Island Sofie Bombers marked to $5 a piece. I grabbed all 4 left.

A local drug store had a bunch of FBS, and, probably not knowing what they had, marked it down to $0.50 per bottle after a few months. That was a glorious day of buying a few cases of FBS for less than $40

Costco was offing their St. Bernardus Christmas Ale after Christmas for $5.97 (I think it was $9.97 before). Then they marked it down to $2.97 - then to $1.97...less than a month after Dec. 25th!

Pizza Boy Golden Sour for $10. Marked down from $30+. Hell yea we bought it!

This was at bar. It wasn't moving fast enough so they marked it down to get it off the shelves.

yeah only singles are there now i think? for their ridiculous $3.50 or so price tag. i wanted to try the beer when it came out, but for $14 a 4 pack it was too rich for me, so it was awesome to see it come January at $6 .Weyerbacher in general is a little pricey, but they make damn good beers
