Honestly, I could do more, but don't want to. Gotta spread my time and energy over the other 5 hobbies I have as well. Amongst family and friends, I'm a 9. Around here, probably a 3!

Hmmmm. Tough. I went with a 6. Points deducted for minimal trading/reviewing, and I've never drank a legitimate whale (and have very little desire to go about acquiring one). And agreed with what someone said about beer not being some enhancer that I try to push into everything else.

Edit - actually thinking about it I'm probably a 5.

Hmm... I dunno. I haven't visited a brewery yet (though I plan to in the future, as there's a couple nearby and one of them doesn't bottle/can their beer yet so that'd be the only way to try it), I haven't made trips across the country (or even the state) just to find beer I can't get nearby, and I don't really have much interest in the whole "hunting for rare beers" thing at all (I'd honestly rather just stumble across something rare and be like "wow, I never thought I'd find this here" rather than actively seeking it out.) Beer festivals and waiting in lines for limited releases seem like they'd cause problems for me due to my issues with crowds of strangers, so those will probably be a "never" for me unless I end up having friends going to the same event at some point.

I do read, write, and talk about beer a good bit, though, and I'm always trying new ones if they're available (and there's always some in my fridge, usually a variety pack so I get to try as much new beer as possible) and I try to review most beers if I have them at least twice, or sometimes if I only have them once but suspect I might not be able to find them again. I haven't really gotten into trading, though I do tend to bring a single bottle/can of a new beer to my sister from time to time (and sometimes she'll give me one of hers in return), which is kind of along the same lines I suppose.

    So... maybe a 2 or 3 I guess?

I'd say I'm about a 7, critical on glassware, temps, dates, foods, attending events, a little ticking etc. but there a many factors preventing me from going full hardcore like I want to. Maybe it's for my own good.

It's more original than what's your favourite IPA / one brewery for life type threads no?

7.5 Well, no one else added any numbers to the right of the decimal so I thought I might as well. Besides, I consider my beerdom about average. I don't obsess over it, I don't do festivals of any kind and I don't trade. But I do plan trips around what breweries, stores or bars I can check out, I do keep a running inventory of what I have in the beer fridge [oh yeah, I have a beer fridge] and I have asked friends and relatives who are traveling to look for this or that beer.

I said i'm an 8. I'm still not ready to spend 10 hours standing outside a brewery waiting for a new beer launch. I will try to get one but I won't spend a day waiting.

Although I do have the entirety of my basement devoted to beer (my bottle collection, cellar, and homebrewing area), I consider myself an 8 out of 10. I'd likely be a 9 or even a 10 if I lived in a more beer-centric area but since I live in an area with limited selection and an under-abundance of beer culture, I'm limited on what I can experience with regards to the beer world.

I went with 5. I do spend a good amount of time researching and looking at new beers to try, but my budget keeps me from trading regularly or traveling specifically for the purpose of buying beer. I try to make the best out of what I have available to me locally, and though, I'm not opposed to trading, I've only had the opportunity to do it once thus far.

And honest appraisal, and therefore I'd say you're a 6. Hardcore with a sense of reality.

I said 7. I love great beer, as in love , but getting burned out on mediocre beer. Supplement with Martinis , and great scotch or bourbon.

I put myself down as an 8. I make beer stops a priority, plan out my drinking schedule, drink water instead of BMC if no other beers are available, and get picky over what glassware I use for my beer. The only thing left for me at this point is to start beer trading and homebrewing before I declare myself a Poke- I mean Beermaster!!

This point really can't be emphasized enough. If you are paying more attention to the beer you're drinking than the people you're drinking it with, you are doing it all wrong.

I said 8....Definitely spend a lot more money then I used to and certain beers I will actively seek out. Have made it a point to visit local breweries more often. Definitely trying to get more of my friends into it because after all its more fun to drink with other people, especially when they appreciate good beers as much as you do. Shared a bottle of espresso oak aged yeti last night with 2 friends and it blew there mind.
