    That's a good idea, actually :stuck_out_tongue:

The choice used to be Paulaner Salvator back in the day. That was a high ABV beer back then. Seems like a good prompt to revisit and enjoy.

Celebrator and Andechs are great but Korbinian deserves some love too :-).

Looks like all the Korbinian folks came late to the party (but at the same time).

How does Korbinian compare with Andechs and Celebrator? I've never had it but I have a bottle in the fridge.

I've been waiting for someone to say Korbinian.

Celebrator or Optimator. Optimator usually because it is most available around here.

Edit: Korbinian strikes me as being the driest and "grainiest" of those. Grainy as I use it here is meant to convey the variety of malt used, and the complexity -- not the more common use (which is most often meant as a slander.)

The most difficult part in a comparison is in getting hold of (reasonably) fresh* bottles. Thanks to a trade, I was happy enough to be able to do a side-by-side with Korbinian, Salvator, Andechs, and Optimator.

*Note: Where I live (Minnesota), one wholesaler has rights for the State for Kloster Andechs, and refused to bring in a shipment of those labels owing to the fact that the importer had only bottles from the first shipment (2013) to offer.

Guess I can wait another thirty years... :slight_frown:

Celebrator on draft is the best I've experienced stateside. I've bought Paulaner more because of the easy to read freshness dating though.

Celebrator is one of the benchmarks. But Optimator is damn good for the price.

I'd say Celebrator and Korbinian for me, too. Haven't had a chance to try the Andechs yet.

If you can find bottles that aren't too old, try all of their beers.
