I can see now why Side Project does silent releases to the same 50-100 people every time. No hassles.

The guy you're talking about said he wasn't even there at the release.

He wants to be able to send some mules there that aren't willing to line up early.

I'm always fascinated with this sort of thing. People started doing the crazy lining up thing with Black Friday sales, iPhones, and Star Wars, and now it's par for the course for nearly every product or service you can think of. It always seems to go hand-in-hand with people who lose their shit, too. Not most people mind you, but it seems like there are always a few nuts.
I'd love to know what the first (non-GABF) beer line in Colorado was. The 2nd year we got Pliny (2011)?

Avery Quinquepartite in August 2010 is the first insane line that I remember here. Followed closely by Margarete.

Pliny? I think the Younger was in bottles around 2007. No line and I picked up several. Was better back then, too :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the big thing now is to take pictures/video of "opening" something. I'm struggling, but I can't come up with something I care less about.

I wish I loved beer back then like I do now! That's pretty cool, wonder if that will ever happen again?

I'm amazed at people that thought they could show up at 1030 for an 11am release of a hyped beer with a bottle count of only 116. Are these people naive or just stupid?

It looks like the comment thread in question has been removed from Facebook, but there were two or three guys just at each other's throats regarding when people started lining up, when they should start lining up, entitlement to bottles, etc.

One memorable part: at one point, one guy separate from the argument comments "dudes, it's just beer". To which, one of the combatants says something like: "It may just be beer to you, but beer is my life. I don't expect you to understand, but it's literally the most important thing to me." He goes on to comment that chasing trucks and camping out for beer releases is just who he is.

With competition like this, I don't stand a chance.

While I agree with his position, I did think it was pretty ironic that the guy who was trying to prove that a lottery was a bad idea used phish as an example to back up his stance

Sometimes 'passion' clouds 'logic'. Jessie Spano wasn't making any sense either when she was all hopped up on caffeine pills trying to keep up with her musical passion and the Hot Sundae circa 1990.

That's the kind of thing that confounds me. If beer isn't fun - what's the point? Sometimes I think people just need to back away, crack open a chilled Fat Tire/Titan/90 Shilling and re-evaluate things. Some folks act like it's a job.

While people were living out their passions in Glenwood, I saw Grapevine quietly let some loons trickle out. Good on em.
