Stout BIF Round 4 Hints & Hauls

Damn

 

I did receive the box yesterday. I've been really busy so no details until tomorrow

 

Awesome, that's the best outcome of the three I posed

 

It landed Wednesday at about noon.

 

In one of my boxes to @Mipper for this BIF , I sent him a 2 year vertical of Underdark from Intution Ale Works. Turned out that the '15 was infected. I reached out to him when I found out and I wanted to setup a trade so that I could replace that bottle for him and get the bad bottle back to me (to return it to the brewery.) He was iso of a few things I had so we expanded the trade a bit. He said he would be sure to include some Pizza Boy brews in return.

Eric is a crazy person. Crazy generous.

This is what landed safely at my home a few minutes ago. I am floored. 3!!! Crowlers (Smurfs blood, Eternal Sunshine and Sunny Side up) and a 750 ml Blackberry Sour. Top notch extras to boot.

 

Glad everything arrive safely my friend! I think you are gonna like Pizza Boy.

Spot on about the crazy part though.........

I don't have pictures but I received a third box from @slvrmon82 last week.

The contents:
2013 and 2014 bourbon county barleywine. I've wanted to try it for a while and have never been able to get any.

2011 abyss. Never had it and its on the wants list. I had a bottle but sent it to my target

Anchorage a deal with the devil. I can't wait to try this one, sounds awesome.

Also in the box was an assortment of dogfishhead glassware. A pint glass, their IPA glass(I have the unbranded stout glass) a really cool heavy duty snifter and a 4th that I'm not really sure what it is.

Last but not least, a Randall Jr. I've really been wanting to get a French press to mess around with, can't wait to try some things out.

So @LehighAce06 was my sender and he sent me three awesome boxes. I' m so sorry i didn't post earlier. Kevin deserves more than a shout out and thank you for his handiwork in putting this together.
I'm a big fan of barrel aged stuff and also adjuncted and chocolaty/vanilla stouts. @LehighAce06 noticed and found like a bazillion of them.


So what arrived looked like this:

I drank that Mean Old Tom and kinda wanted to cry.
The growler is Plead the Fifth!
The Crowler is Sunny Side Up! (domed in its entirety by me, at 10 am, on my birthday (true story))

The smaller box was loaded with gems



Including several older Brooklyn Chocolates.. what vintages are they?
And Sunday Morning Stout I'm such a Weyerbacher fanboy and this was very exciting for me
(btw anybody in this BIF got a 4 pk to trade me...? )

And an old ass (2012) Founder Imp Stout (which i also drank on my birthday..it was smooother than an 80s ex lax commercial)

The Black Chocolate Stouts are labelled on the neck with the vintage, but for the record they are 2009, 2012, and 2014; personally I think 2009 is drinking fantastically.

From my notes, the missing ones are Dieu du Ciel Aphrodite, Saucony Creek Schnickelfritz, Weyerbacher Heresy, and Lakewood The Temptress.

Those that know me know I LOVE my side-by-sides, so I tried to fill this haul with potential horizontal/vertical/style comparisons...

• The two Lancaster Milk Stouts
• Big Gruesome/Sweet Baby Jesus/Liquid Bliss
• Sunny Side Up/Wake n Bake
• (Or Terrapin seasonals instead)
• Mini-vertical of Brooklyn Black Chocolate
• Any combination of chocolate stouts
• DORIS/BA BORIS
• Founders Imperial Stout mini vert (I found out that Founders has recently added your area to their distribution, so I skipped adding the current year since I figured you could go buy it, so better to add something else you can't get)
• ...and the coup de grace, Plead the 5th and Bourbon Barrel Plead the 5th.

Glad you enjoyed the box, I was a tiny bit worried about sending nothing but stouts (and two porters) but if you like them like I do...

Anyone have a de Garde connection? I've asked this before but with today's release being 6pp on each bottle, I figure now is a good time to see if I can get some. I've got a solid group of de Garde beers for a tasting I am setting up for my local friends and am looking for a few more bottles. Not a big deal if not.
