You can't follow that logic though. It's like buying in bulk

Look at what you would pay for soda. There's just a slim difference between what you pay for a can and a 2 liter

If you think fixed labor, space, and energy costs for pouring different sizes of beer is "nitpicking," then I don't think you understand how the business works. Labor is a large part of the cost of any served food or beverage. Not accounting for it in your pricing is going to leave you short a ton of cash at the end of the year. Or over, depending on which end your pricing is missing on.

That's why many busy bars forego samples. It's not the few ounces per keg they're giving away that hurts, it's the free labor of all those pours.

How big is that burger? Based on the "small plates" description and the price point, I'm worried it could be about half the size of a White Castle one....

Has anyone tried the burger? Considering the Tired Hands 'no substitutions' ethos, I'm almost nervous to order it because I'd be asking for no L/T/O/P on it (and I'm not necessarily choked up over HopHands Mustard being the condiment of choice despite really enjoying it - ketchup is the preferable burger condiment to me). I just wonder if the waiter/waitress would screw up their face and need to check with the manager if I can request changes to the toppings.

Burgers at Tired Hands? What's next, frying up mozzarella sticks?

According to their instagram a "well done" burger.

    No thanks.

Like Shake Shack and Five Guys - I don't see the problem with that if it's done right. I'll take that over a way undercooked "medium rare" burger at Iron Hill or Victory that ends up raw and cold in the middle and bleeding all over the plate.

I have come to the conclusion that Tired Hands makes damn fine beer since most of the complaints are concerning food.

    Cheers to Tired Hands beer!!

Had the burger last nite medium rare with only the additions I wanted. According to Jean, you pick the topping you want! Enjoy....BTW, it was delicious, especially with the candy bacon.

Had the burger. Tasty but not meaty. About as much meat as a McDonald's cheeseburger, but tastier. Not sure I would get it again.

Noticed they are offering a happy hour special as well as a Taco night. Strikes me as a move along the lines of offering a Groupon deal.

I think the Happy hour special is a great Idea. They have these 2 beers that they are making a ton of. Why not do them half price for a happy hour. If anything Im sure it will help move a lot of hophands and keep it fresher.

What's the details on the happy hour? I didn't see anything posted unless I missed it. Fermentaria or Brew Cafe?

So what, they just burned their hipster street cred by offering cheaper pours of their staple beers?

Fermentaria. They have $2 off tacos 4-10pm on mondays, 50% off hophands and saisonhands. Then they have a St. Oner's Happy Hour W-F 4-6pm 50% off pints of hophands and saisonhands.

I'm not complaining, although it's unlikely I'll take advantage of the specials. It just seems like the kind of move they wouldn't have made or wouldn't have wanted to make before. With the way they've cultivated their brand, it just seems likes it might be a little desperation move to drum up business they thought they were going to have in the first place.

I don't think this move was made in despiration. They are now producing beer at a less expensive volume than before. They now have an excess of two beers that they are producing a lot of. The best way to get all that beer drank and remaining fresh is some sort of happy hour. Also there are a shit load of options now. What better way to encourage people to drink your two staple beers other than having a half price happy hour for them?

Buddy and I are hitting up the Fermentaria and Forest & Main for the first time tomorrow. Is there anything else worth checking out in the area retail/brewery wise?

It's not that close but Neshaminy Creek is an awesome brewery if you can make the trip.
