Fave 5 small batch local hop masterpieces

    Just a chance for us to give shout outs to our local (within an hour driving time) small batch (10 barrel brewhouse, or smaller) Hoppy Masterpieces. Hoppy Pale Ale, IPA, IIPA, TIPA, BIPA, all that hoppy goodness we all are privileged to enjoy all across this country.

    So...

    Why not give a shout out for your favorite 5 (or fewer) hop masterpieces being made by small batch brewers in your neck of the woods.

    My hope is we will end up with an incredible list of beers that will show the state of the art in hoppy beer brewing here in USA. Here are my 5:


    Crossroads Outrage
    Peekskill Higher Standard
    Rushing Duck war Elephant
    Peekskill Shotgun Willy
    Mill House Pine Tar

    Well my favorites would have to within an hour subway ride (which probably equates to two hours stuck in traffic somewhere around midtown).

    Small batch favorites are what I was going for. Didn't want to get Alpine, Lagunitas, and Stone, etc., as responses, looking for the local distro small batch stuff only we locals get to enjoy.

    An hour drive from here almost gets you somewhere.You tiny state people crack me up. I'll list Every good IPA made within an hour drive of where I live (and remember, this is Oregon)

    Haven't visited many of the breweries in in SWFL yet, but Point Ybel's Megahops Atlanticus and A Blow to the Head are both very good.

    I could probably have most of this list be Other Half beers, but I'm going to limit myself to one and try to add some diversity for the list:

    OH Nelson IPA
    Six Point Hi-Res
    SingleCut BonBon 2xTNT IIPA
    Kelso Industrial IPA
    Third Rail Bodega APA

    Haven't tried Amazeballs or War Elephant yet, but looking forward to it

    I was thinking the same thing. An hour drive in any direction from where I live will probably put you in the middle of a cotton field somewhere. But drive about 3 hours North to Atlanta and I'll add a few to the list:

    Burnt Hickory - Old Wooden Head
    Burnt Hickory - Cannon Dragger
