I recently started exploring the craft beer realm a few years ago. I started out with nothing but stouts and porters, and after trying some world renowned stouts like Founders KBS, Founders CBS, GI Bourbon County Stout, etc.. I recently decided it's time to expand my palate. Living in Houston Yellow Rose is readily available everywhere, tried a pint of it and fell in love. Only other IPA's that stand out which I've tried are Karbach Hop Delusion (great) & Rodeo Clown (meh), and pretty much all the Saint Arnold IPA's like Endeavor and Elissa. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Edit: I've also tried Ballast Point Sculpin, probably my second favorite IPA I've tried next to Yellow Rose.

One of my personal favourites is Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. It's available nearly everywhere in the USA.

Thanks, I actually seen Dogfish 90 min at the store a few days ago. I was considering checking that out. And I have yet to try any Sierra Nevada IPA's, but I know Torpedo is available everywhere. I also see Hop Hunter everywhere too.

I second all of these - and will add:

    Bear Republic's Racer 5
    Anderson Valley's Hop Ottin'
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (seasonal - fall/winter, I think)
Victory Hop Devil (not sure if this is distributed to TX)

Oh wait, if you already like Sculpin then you've already overcome your early lupulin threshold shift. Get Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Hop Hunter, any Lagunitas IPA (especially Sucks!) and Stone IPA, Ruination, and Enjoy By.

Founders All-Day is what eased my into the world of IPA, and I haven't looked back.

Another vote for SN Torpedo & Dogfish 60. Maybe Red Hook Longhammer.

Lagunitas IPA and Sucks. Easy to get should be Sweetwater IPA and if you can get Abita Spring IPA give it a shot.
If you want to go head over heels pick up some Resin (DIPA).

Thanks! Forgot to mention I've already tried Founders All Day. Tried it early in my IPA venture and it was definitely the most drinkable IPA I've ever had. And looks like I need to try me some Lagunitas and Stone IPA's.

And also I seen someone mention Bell. I've always heard this is a critically acclaimed brewery, but have never found it in Texas..

Dogfish head 60 minute is a great entry level ipa. If you haven't quite developed a taste for hops try lasso ipa from great divide it is really straight forward and simple.

Agree with all the offerings so far. I might add Odell's IPA, Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, and Firestone Walker Union Jack, if they are available in your area.

I think one that I have really been jonsing on is MetaModern. It is a session IPA but doesn't sacrifice flavor. Kinda reminds me of the Seinfeld fat free yogurt episode. Others I really like that I think are accessible are Lagunitas Sucks, Little Sumpin (not really an IPA, but close, cross between IPA and Hefe) and Hop Stoopid. Also locally there is a new brewery opened at 249 and beltway 8, 11 Below. I think their Red IPA Color Blind is a great IPA. From Abita Wrought Iron is more accessible than Spring and I think it is a lot more interesting. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed, Odells Myrcenary DIPA and Cyclers Breakaway IPA. That is throwing out a lot, but these are all easily accessible if you are in the Houston area.

note: don't think I can use the word accessible any more

The OP did list his state, Texas =) ... And yeah, I do see Dogfish 60 min everywhere. I've got to give it a try.

Not sure how accessible Cedar Creek Brewery or Southern Star Brewing Co. is for you but Dankosaurus and Valkyrie are both TX-based brews that you might enjoy.
