Schell's Noble Star - Starkeller Peach

When does the taproom open?

 

Shell's doesn't have a taproom. Unless that's changed since October.

 

They have a tap room at the main brewery, it's just only open to those who go on tours. I don't know why it is that way.

I am guessing though, that @ramay86 was asking about the soon-to-be-opened building for Schell's Berliners. The Star Keller as it is called will have a tap room. I haven't heard much about it's opening date, which is odd considering New Ulm is my hometown and I am there regularly. I typically hear all the news. But I would think it'll be announced fairly soon since construction on the building began last fall. Plus, the tanks have all been reconditioned as of a June 5 post on Schell's FB.

 

Oh yeah, I love that Schell's taproom. Got to post up at the bar for an "appreciation day" when I was bartending at a restaurant in St Peter that had a couple of Schell's taps. They kept the pints full and refused to accept cash or even TIPS! Not sure how viable that is as a business model but I'd definitely go back and recommend it to my friends.

As I understand, the Star Keller facility will house the new taproom, eventually.

I've always wanted to make the hike out there. Have any of you been to any of their events, like Oktoberfest? Those also look to be pretty fun.

 

Been to Bock Fest 6 or 7 times. No matter the weather, always a great time

 

Bockfest is an experience. Everybody Oktoberfest with Schell's is fun too. Not quite as big, but still I nice environment to enjoy a good beer with some polka music.

 

I made it to eight Bockfests before some pretty gal or other tried to domesticate me (one took me to far-flung Boston, the other to straight-up Squaresville.)

They are always great events, and even the 'regular' tour is worth a visit.

Is anyone else completely flabbergasted that Schells samples out of plastic cups?

 

Completely flabbergasted? It's still the same beer.

 

Sigh. It's been hard enough to get the previous Noble Star beers in IC. "Very low yield" doesn't bode well.

 

You can still buy Cypress in Iowa City. Brazinis still has bottles from last week's shipment. It wasn't hard to find.

 

I've always found that plastic destroys all smell in a beer. I just figured they could afford glass

I much prefer Dart styrofoam coffee cups, personally.

 

Hmm, a low yield of peaches is why there will never be another batch of "Yellow Bus."
