One would hope after a few more Dinner releases they'd have the money to start doing 4-packs instead. Pipe dream I guess.

Yeah but then you'd just have an even longer line. If you only want a few bottles you can probably buy/trade them off someone. Not to mention Dinner is Grade A trade-bait. Hell, if you're gonna wait six hours in line it's nice to know you'll not only score the Dinner but some other whales via trades.

Not totally sure I agree, though you could be right. I think there'd be less people because some would say, "Eh, screw it. I'm not driving up there for four beers."

And there are people -- like me -- who don't want a case of beer. I'd literally only buy one of them, but (a) I'm not waiting in that line and (b) I don't even want to know what I'd have to unload to get one Dinner.

Those of you who want to get in line and wait, great. Not for me. I just wish there was a better system in place. Maybe just place Dinner in distro, don't tell anyone, and see it hit shelves.

I'm sorry, I've been trying to bite my tongue but c'mon people. Dinner is an above average DIPA but I think you are absolutely out of your mind to stand in any sort of line for it. Drive to Trillium and wait in a minimal line and be treated to beers ten times better than Dinner. /rant

Honestly though- if you have time to waste go for it but this serves as a warning to those who haven't been yet - it's not that amazing!

But waiting in line makes everything taste better! It enhances the aromas of the rarez!

Not sure this makes sense, if you aren't willing to go get it then it doesn't matter what the limit is....Because, of course, you can go up and buy less than a case.

I have only been to the first Dinner release, got there at open and was out maybe 15 minutes later. It was a mess and it doesn't sound like they have learned a heck of a lot since then but I am signed up to hit this one as a buddy of mine wants to go and I told him I would hang out with him.

I disagree with those that say the beer is overrated, it is a great beer. I have had friends give me bottles from the last couple releases (yeah, some people really do get extras to share with friends, though it appears to be fun to assume that everyone is trading for max value) and have loved every batch so far.

mattosgood, if you want a bottle you don't have to do anything for it except send me your address, I will make sure it gets to you.

I wouldn't call it overrated, but when there are other IPAs of equal quality across New England, the line and wait to get the beer can seem a little outrageous.

Wasn't any wink-wink from me. I got two cases and traded off one of them.

It's the standard response here, as I'm sure you know.

The last release was a shit show, but only because they had one point of sale to process 700+ transactions. Just add a couple of iPads with Square attachments and the whole line moves 3 times faster and the problem is solved.

I won't be at this release but will probably hit the next one. Anyone who wants to buy a bottle (no markup) or trade $4$ can ping me.

I'm flying in Sunday around 2pm. No chance any is left in bottles? I've heard it sticks around on tap for a little while.

    So...whose grabbing my case?

My guess would be no. It was gone by 1pm last time and that was with a true shit show of a line. With multiple points of sale I'm guessing it will be gone by 11am.

You can always get some on tap at the brewery though, so you can at least try it.

I'll be there, hopefully by say 5-5:30 am! Looking forward to getting up to MBC for a quick visit. Plan on hitting Treehouse on Friday on my way to my brothers in MA. Then most likely hitting Bissell Brothers and Trillium on my way back to NJ.

Expecting a wait and will grab my allotment of 12. Half are already off to family/friends and with a shore vacation the following week, I'm sure the rest will probably be finished. No trading here!

My wife thinks I'm crazy but I see it as a chance to visit some breweries I haven't been too and grab some great beers. I was lucky to have some from the last release as my brother went up. Fantastic beer IMHO.

Would it be correct to understand that they start selling bottles at 7am? The only note I've seen says that draft sales don't start til 12pm but that's about it.. Could someone please confirm bottle sale time?

If you would take time to check MBC website it details how the sale will be run.

Have to agree totally there are so many great DIPA's that are easier to get. I went to Trillium last Saturday got there about 12:15 and was out by 12:25 with 12 bottles of Fort Point Pale Ale and 12 bottles of DDH Congress Street. So much easier than the show at MBC.

I've been wanting to try dinner for some time now, but the thought of a six hour round trip drive just to wait in line for a beer that isn't any better than stuff I can get right down the street is a bit ridiculous. I'll also echo the comments about their regular beers sitting on shelves. The stuff is good, just too expensive for anyone who isn't trying for the first time. The only way I see myself buying more MBC is if they release six packs under $15 preferably closer to $12. If I can get 32oz of FPPA for $8, why the hell would I pay $7 for 16.9oz of MBC?

Just wondering, if you have never tried it then how do you know it isn't any better? Because some other people said so? I love Trillium and Treehouse and all the others as much as anyone, but nobody, in my opinion, makes a beer that tastes like Dinner. Better, worse, I don't know, when it comes to this kind of quality there is only "different". Seems like a whole lot of people are hung up on better, and not many appreciate that the differences make many of them great, equally but differently.

It's always the same, if you don't want it then don't go get it. If you do, then go right ahead.

Fair point and that is exactly why I do want to try it. MBC beers are still some of my favorite of all time, so I definitely want to try the most hyped of all. I just don't understand why they release it in such small batches when obviously there is huge demand for it. It's not like they don't have the capacity, as evidenced by all their other beers that sit on shelves. I guess I just don't understand their business practices. I have no problem spending money on beer, but it's almost like they don't want my money by making their available beers overpriced and their most sought after beers unavailable.

Bottom line is I would spend more money on them if they lowered their prices of regular offerings to at least be equivalent to trillium (which is already quite expensive), or if they made dinner in large enough quantities that it wouldn't require six hours round trip.

I have to work on the 20th anyways, but it's my birthday, so if anyone feels like bringing me a present...

Can't argue any of the points here. I, too, avoid MBC for the most part, except the occasional bottle of Lunch or Another One. And, to be fair, Dinner comes in at the same price point (just a hair cheaper actually) than the double dry hopped offerings of Trillium. Of course Trillium is much easier to get and they just kill the hoppy stuff (I spend way too much there) but I do like Dinner.

Can't say I will bring you a present, but you may just find a bottle in your future!
