Auction similarities aside, listing a cellar for trade seems a bit lazy imo. Not specifically with respect to OP but it's like I don't want to be bothered with coming up with options so you do the work. I understand the desire to be flexible but just do as GreesyFizeek mentions and list 5-6 of one's top bottles you would trade for it and mention there are other options in your cellar if these don't work.

This right here ends the discussion of if it was an auction because you yourself admit you broke a rule.
    In bold below.
    Rules:
    • As always, our Terms of Service applies.
    • You trade at your own risk.
    • Beer trading is a privilege that may be taken away.
    • You may be banned without warning for:
      • Buying or selling alcohol.
      • Trolling or dishonest activity.
      • Having multiple accounts.
      • Posting personal information.
      • Abusing the Beer Trading Feedback System. Examples:
        • Giving retaliatory feedback.
        • Basing your okay/negative feedback on the lack of extras; unless extras were part of the agreed upon trade.
        • Leaving fake feedback.
    • Trade posts may only be made in an ISO (in search of) : FT (for trade) forum.
    • Trades must be beer for beer. No other goods or services; like tickets, booze, mules/proxies/trustees.
    • No open-ended, vague, or auction-like offers; example: "Make me an offer."
    • No betting.
    • No linking to lists on another site.
    • No "message sent" or "check your messages" style posts.
    • No "what's the value of beer x?", "what would it take to get beer x?", "what can I get for beer x?" or similar threads.
    • No bumping. No cross-posting (making the same offer in multiple forums). No reposting the same or similar post within a 72 hour period.
    • Don't threadjack. Start your own ISO:FT thread.
    • Don't reply with "Like" or "+1" or similar.
    • Don't be a dick.

It was made clear to you on May 9th when i explained all of this to you then, and its not just a "certain mod", you were reported i was the mod who took the report, any mod would have done the same thing. Now as for your 1 day ban, if you would like to speak to me about your warning i would have gladly explain to you what you did wrong again, but you instead wanted to make a thread about the way you post your cellar link to rally support for your quasi auctions. Do what everyone else does, list FT: specific beer ISO: specific beer. BA is not a place for auctions, nor will it ever be. If i see it it will be deleted and the offending party warned.

Just my opinion, but any trade offer that asks people to "contact me for ratios", or anything vaguely similar to that is an auction.

If you're not running an auction there's no reason not to tell everyone up front what ratios you're expecting.

    Mileage varies.

I would have more than happy to talk to you about it @blue-dream. When I got the alert that my thread had been pulled, it did not say who did the action, so whom do I go to then? I then made a post hoping that a mod would respond to it and help clarify.

In the e-mail I got when you banned me, it said who did it. Is there something I'm missing in the alert that says who did it, because I did not see anything indicating that. Is there something that can be added to alerts like that to indicate who is doing it so it can be discussed? If so, let me know and I'll make a post in the help for a feature addition.

Thank you very much for your time and effort on this matter.

Yep, I see numerous threads like this. Not sure if these end up getting deleted, but these fall under the category of auction like offers.

What you missed is you have had 2 trading warnings already, and by this time i would have expected you to read the rules. If you ever have a question any mod will lead you in the right direction to who deleted your post and the reason left. Your last one specifically you didn't even post your cellar link because you wanted people to contact you first, in my book and many others thats a clear auction. Again we are not on here all the time but if you do have a question for us we will get back to you.

I cannot argue against the January warning; that was 100% my fault. I dispute the other one but it was marked as an auction violation, so that's how it gets marked.

I thought by not providing my cellar in the public thread it was preventing perception as an auction. I made it clear what I wanted. Someone contacts me and I share my cellar and we see if we can agree on something; if not I will either restate it's still open or move to the next message. What I'm getting (Stickee Monkee) doesn't change regardless of who I trade with; its just a matter of what I'm comfortable parting with. But I do see how this can be perceived that way and will post future requests accordingly.

Do the warnings ever come off my profile or is that permanently in my file?

    Cheers!

Warnings are permanent , and trust me i have herd a thousand excuses of "why my post isn't an auction" , there is nothing anyone can say to sway me. If its not ISO: specific beers FT: specific beers its an auction. You should be doing your own research to what stuff trades for and what people would want from you, its not my job. Just because you think you can do what you want behind closed doors doesn't change the fact that its still an auction for everyone else to see.
Trust me is does not pay to be different, people will report you.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!

I would respectfully ask that you lock this thread then; it would seem any further thoughts/opinions on this matter aren't going to add anything further.

    Thank you.

I agree, you sound like you will try to do what you want in future, and TOS explained to you won't sway you, and advice on how to do things right won't sway you. Good luck with that. Cheers!

But he lists the beers he is looking for and he lists the beers he is trading. He meets the rules requirements. As always trade at your own risk. We can only do so much about blatant auctions, the ones behind closed doors are the ones you have to look out for. We can't do everything now can we ?

You're a real tool @cavedave. I started a thread to get some advice so I can completely ignore it. I had nothing better to do today so I thought I would waste your time and all the experience you have from your 1 completed trade.

Just because I may not agree with someone's point of view is regarding whether or not my post constitutes an auction, that does not mean I will not tailor future posts to a tighter format.

If you have something to add, I'd love to hear it. If you're just going to mock and make hateful comments, please go back to troll under your bridge.

    Cheers!

Thanks to this post and your contempt of @blue-dream in your profile posts, you win a prize: enjoy a bit of time off. The chances of getting this one rescinded are near zero.

Not sure you realize how much @cavedave contributes to this community, but he's one of the last people here that would be labeled a troll.

Change your attitude or you'll find yourself most unwelcome.

When I first saw the points posts, I was "WTF", this is absurd. But have changed my mind on them. Some may have some unrealistic asks, but at least people know exactly what poster is seeking and offering. At least up front eliminates the appearance of an auction.

    Steps to getting banned

    1) ignore rules
    2) pretend you didn't understand rules
    3) argue rules are stupid
    4) argue rules are stupid w/ Justin
    5) call a veteran a tool

    Yep that should do it!!!

Oh also I have a sticky monkey FT I am ISO your cellar!
