The Half-Acre thread (2018)

Was there at about 5:15, fridge was full of it and there was nobody there.

 

Just picked up 3 from the Tap Room. Limit was 4 and they had plenty.

 

Opinions on it lasting until Sunday

 

I remember last year, the 4 packs made it until Saturday morning, but sold it within an hour of the shop opening. I believe 350 cases is what they had to sell this year, Sunday may be a stretch

 

I also want to add that they were serving BHA on tap, but weren't doing growler fills. I don't know if that was because of limited availability or if they just don't do fills of the limited release stuff from the tap room after hours.

 

I think growler fills are only in the store. I got 2 x 32 growlers filled around 6.

 

Any bombers left, or did they sell out?? I don't want to make the trip to the city for growlers so any info would be great.

I'm assuming they simply can't get enough citra hops to brew this one year round, but I'm surprised they don't give it a shot; this is probably my favorite citra-hopped beer, and one of my favorites overall. I would buy cans of this stuff year-round (hell, I'd "suffer" through bombers of it if I had to).

 

They brought BHA to Mundelien Fest this past weekend and it was easily the best beer there.

 

I enjoyed the shit out of this beer. I drank 8 glasses of it and bought as many bottles as they'd allow. But I love citra hop and Vienna malt. I will be back, the brew pub was stellar in my opinion

 

Is this a SMASH beer? Only Vienna and Citra?

 

Yes, one of the employees at the store mentioned it was.

Great news on HB3237. So many thanks to @RepAnnWilliams and @StateRepSara - our cans are coming back!

 

If you didn't see this, they're selling bombers and growler fills of Akari Shogun with lemon and lime zest -- aka the Akari Mist firkin beer in bottled form, though it's listed as Akari Zest so they don't get sued, I guess. It's the big batch brother of my favorite firkin they've ever done. I guess poor Lee zested most of the citrus, with lots of help, and their labor was worth it. Wow, this is incredible, like a grown-up shandy, not sweet at all but popping with bright citrus flavor. I could drink this every day, all year. I bet it's even healthy, and probably cures cancer and bad breath.

 

Swung by the brewery last night to grab a glass of Psychadesic, their collaboration with Tired Hands. Excellent saison that sat for over a year. Apparently what they tapped last night was the only keg made, so if it's still around, I highly encourage everyone to go check it out. Really great beer that I wish there was more of.

All Half Acre cans are now on shelves in our shop on Lincoln! Take home keg sales are also back. It's a great day

 

Where have the cans been? Not trying to sound like Paula Cole. Just saying, we've been getting them in the 'burbs.

 

The Lincoln location hasn't been able to sell cans on site ever since Half Acre's canning line moved to their new facility in Bowmanville.
