Going to Omaha for my girlfriends graduation, have Friday to get some beer fun in, staying downtown in old market. What is one beer store and one craft beer bar w\food I should hit up? Not looking for rare beer store wise just a good selection of some beers to bring back to Wisconsin.
I would go to Beertopia and then either Crescent Moon to the west or Farnam House to the east. https://www.facebook.com/BeertopiaOmaha https://www.facebook.com/CrescentMoonAlehouse https://www.facebook.com/FarnamHouseBrewingCompany
for beer store it's beertopia, easy brewpub is way harder, there's plenty of good options. farnam house currently makes the beers i'm most interested in drinking if you are talking actual breweries (and their food is good too). if you are just talking good beer bars w/food i think krug park is your best option (you can order food from lot 2 which is imo one of the best dining options in omaha)
Really Omaha you just have multiple bottles of old stock ale 2013 on the shelf at multiple places? I came home with 5 bottles of that alone.
Yep. At a beer fest here there were long lines to a lot of breweries but I a short one for Founders pouring KBS. Went back like 9 or 10 times.... Note: I live in Lincoln now...
You must be the guy that bought three bottles from me at Beertopia on Saturday. You guys ended up with a nice haul, as I recall. The price tag tends to scare people off. Now that I think about it, it feels like most of the bottles I've sold have been to travelers...
Yes I was that guy, even at 20 bucks that beer is worth it, stopped to get gas leaving the next day and the store had it on the shelf so bought some more. Really enjoyed beertopia and fell in love with old market area, who knew Omaha would become my new favorite getaway.
Ha, must have been Cubbies. Nice bit of serendipity to stumble upon the one weird little gas station/convenience store to carry craft. Omaha does have a way of pulling one in. Glad you enjoyed your stay.
