That would be greatly overstating their current business arrangement, but go on believing what you do.

 

How much say do you think Pat has? You've commented several times implying that Pat has more control than people believe, so I'm curious how far that extends.

As far as I can tell, it seems like Pat still has final say about what happens up the hill - for example, he sent back an inferior batch of GF Nelson not long ago - but does not have decision making powers on what goes into distro or what happens in Mira Mesa. Considering some of the batches of Duet and HB that have gone out, I think Pat looks far better not having control, considering the alternative is that he's willfully approving the distribution of shitty beers that have little resemblance to his creations.

 

Just got fills on Friday of Nelson & Hoppy Birthday. Nelson has a Nelson sticker on the cap, Hoppy Birthday is hand written like usual. Nelson tastes not great, has anyone heard if they are stickering non-alpine fills? Nose is good, taste is not there though.

 

The fills I got yesterday all have the stickers too. Saw others getting hand written caps. I can't imagine they are picking and choosing between alpine/GF fills on growlers.

 

I pretty much think what you wrote, which is a lot more control than clayfu implied or other people have implied.

 

Yeah you're probably right. Just noticed that my 2 Nelson had stickers & the HB didnt.

i said "doubt they have that much say left in what GF does", the person i replied to was complaining about the draft pours he got in Sacramento, which was distro. Which is exactly what Xul was saying, that Pat doesn't have any decision making powers in what goes into distro or what happens at Green Flash.... yet you agreed with him but disagreed with my point?

 

I thought you were talking about the pub in Alpine, not some place in Sacramento. Reading comprehension fail on my part. Never mind; carry on.

David, Pure has been insane for a while, I put it up with Nelson now as my favorite Alpine beer. They just brewed another fresh batch yesterday, if I wind up in my SD office I am grabbing some fresh bottles.

Has anyone else noticed there hasn't been any updates from Alpine via their FB or home page lately. I also haven't seen Steve on my last two visits down to fill up on beer, maybe it was Steve who did the social media updates? It's very helpful to know what's available in bottles and growlers before hitting the brewery. BTW, this new batch of Nelson is really incredible again.

I noticed that the other day and they have two Facebook pages, one of which is semi-updated. I also noticed they had Nelson bottles last weekend early Saturday but then sold out. Now, it says they have bottles again but I thought they only had new bottles every two weeks? I might have to make a trip this weekend.

 

Same here, had Duet at Yard House in Pasadena, tasted like a different beer than when I've had it from Alpine. I'm sure it was GF made, because Alpine made Duet doesn't ever get sold to a place like Yard House. Sad what has happened, really I won't buy Alpine unless it is at the brewery.

 

Nelson is on a 3 week cycle for new bottles. Tuesday this week is a brand new fresh batch.

 

The spread of Alpine continues. Just got back from New Orleans, and it is showing up there now.
