tours are something I always try to do when visiting a brewery for the first time whether it's local or I'm on the road. While most a pretty "standard", other really go above and beyond.

Is there one that sticks out to you as being the best tour you've experienced?

Sierra Nevada, back in 1989...was magical walking into what was at that time my favorite brewery. Not to mention the esteem it holds in the U.S. craft brewing scene.

I recently was in Tampa and made a point to visit CCB. Excellent tour. Locally, Half Acre really goes above and beyond and you get so much bang for your back. Well worth the $10 cost and you will not be thirsty when you leave!

Swamp Head (homer disclaimer) does a nice tour. I also really liked the tour at Brooklyn Brewery.

The New Belgium tour is pretty good. Probably one of the better ones I've been on.

I've only been on one! I know, for shame, but I am still fairly new to the craft world. The tour I went on was Kona Brewing on the Big Island. Really enjoyed it. Then again, how could anyone not enjoy a brewery tour in Hawaii? the pretty lady is my wife.

Years ago I went on a tour with my folks at Duck Rabbit Brewery in Farmville, NC. They only did tours if you call ahead, cause the whole brewery at the time was 3 guys. One of them showed us all the equipment and supplies and normal tour stuff, then let us smell and taste some barley, grabbed some beers from their walk-in and drank with us, poured us some small batch stuff from a barrel they were messing around with, answered all of our questions. It was cool, a very intimate and friendly tour. I've been on several brewery tours but that one will always stick out in my memory.

Still haven't been on a stellar tour...most recent was Sierra Nevada in Mills River and it was pretty standard.

Ithaca was at the top of my list for the longest time, having visited them back before a lot of updates in their process and facility.

But hands down my new favorite is Founder's. Definitely worth the small premium for the Saturday tour with the private group tasting.

I have 2 answers: #1 are the the tours I've been on where they ask "who has seen beer being made before?", and when I raise my hand they ask "you just want to start at the tasting room?", I always like those tours. And #2 are the tours I've lead, my groups always have a good time.

back in '09, I was at the GABF and ran into a buddy who has a house in Fort Collins that his son lives in. Said son's good friend is the lab guy at New Belguim. We got the mad sick tour of tours.

Budweiser in St Louis pretty fun and lots of free beer afterwards but the free beer wasn't any good. My personal favorite was Maui Brewing got to try all their beers which where great and being in Hawaii not to bad either.
