15 minutes before drinking, I put a snifter and the bottle in the freezer. Then, I drink it ice-cold. Is this wrong? I know in England, they drink some beers at room temperature, which I could never tolerate.

    Give this a try:
Refrigerate two bottles of Old Rasputin,Ten Fidy, or Narwhal.
30 minutes before drinking, take one and put it on the table.
15 minutes before drinking, do the freezer thing.
Try the coldest, then try the other.
Let your taste buds be your guide.
    Cheers!

Drink what you like, how you like it. Who cares what others think?

Yeah, it's a violation of the beer snob rules, but I agree with Hayden34. Drink beer the way you like it.

I tend to prefer my beer cold too, especially down here in the South in the summertime.

Nope. And not because anyone told me not to, because I taste more when something is not really hot or really cold.

In England, the beers you are referencing are "cellar temperature." If that also happened to be room temperature, you'd be drinking your beer in a pretty cold room.

As a rule of thumb, drink beers with lower abv colder than beers with higher abv. Same for color, darker beers generally are better enjoyed at higher temperatures than pale beers.

I drink my beers on the warmer side because I want to taste them and enjoy the aroma, not just slam them down and get drunk. If you're going to drink them that cold, then sticking to BMC will save you a heap of money. Some brewers post the preferred temperature on the bottle to get the flavor and aroma the brewer was striving for - this can be helpful. But, as stated earlier, it's your money.

I like to start them off on the cold side and enjoy the beer as it warms up. The beer definitely hits a sweet spot as it warms up where the flavor and aroma maximize.

Do you not like flavor? Isn't that why we all drink craft beer? The colder you drink it the more muted the flavor

I like my beers cold too, I don't mind frosted glasses. It was 95 yesterday and humid , it will be hotter thru Wed, I have no reason to drink a 50 beer. As a matter of fact I've been drinking Miller Lite thru the heat wave, and it's definitely drinkable and lower in alcohol.

Its your beer, your money, and your taste. There is no right or wrong, only as you like it.
As far as room temperature beer, its an acquired taste that I do from time to time, and something you might decide to embrace your self.
Now if you are trying to emulate "I know in England, they drink some beers at room temperature, which I could never tolerate.
    "
as a type of English traditional reenactment, then you might find yourself rewriting the book on what you like and don't like...

    Above all else, have fun!

    Drink beer, be happy!

I would at leat try darker beers at a higher temperature. I used to be the same way as you, but youll get more flavors out of the beer at warmer temps. You might like it more if you don't there's nothing wrong with drinking it cold, but you won't taste the beer as much.

Pale ales and IPAs I like straight from the fridge, but in the summer I could totally see chilling them extra cold as they warm up so fast once I pour them.

everything else I like warmer (about 50 degrees) but hey, however you prefer your beer is perfect - if someone hands me an ice cold stout, all I have to do is wait 10 minutes for it to warm to my preference - it is always easier to start cold and wait than try and cool a beer that is too warm...

I like my beer cold! But as a few have stated, flavors do come out as the beer warms up. As for saving money by drinking ice cold BMC, nope. Any craft beer that I have had is way better ice cold than any BMC. Even a muted taste is better to me than a BMC. If I want more flavors then I lt it warm up. Drink to your pleasure sir.

I put mine in the freezer too. I still like that sweet spot in the middle as it warms up though.

I do the same and did yesterday with a Treehouse Eureka w/ Galaxy. Put in freezer for a few minutes and it was fantastic!

But I've been pulling from fridge lately and actually letting it warm up a bit before opening, especially higher ABV. I've been enjoying them more at the end than the start.

If your going to the lengths of pouring the beer into a snifter, than I assume you want to taste the full flavors of the beer, correct? Than do not chill it down bc, as stated by everyone, it dulls every flavor aspect of the beer. Just my thoughts. Do as you please and you will have pleasure.
