Thanks, I thought I had read this somewhere, but was drinking when I saw it. Sounds almost like Oude Tart Light!

Is that really so common? I have my good friend do it for me and I just let him keep a bottle once an a while. But he's a real life friend and not a BA associate.

It makes sense in trading to buy a box of beer and send it to somebody in exchange for a box of beer that they paid for, since you're essentially paying for the beer you're receiving and they're paying for the beer they're receiving.

But in this case, you're saying somebody should pay for all their Bruery beers, then pay for an entire other box of beer, just in exchange for somebody spending a little time and gas to ship? Given the standard protocol set by trading, I'm not sure why a trustee should be entitled to an entire box of beer when they're not paying for any beer themselves.

I think you're doing fine. If a friend asked me to pick up some beer and ship it to them I'd have no issue doing it without asking for anything in return as long as they paid all the costs associated. I'd imagine it's much different for a stranger though. Less of a favor, more of s transaction, especially if they are going through this work for a bunch of people.

i sure am glad my trustee doesn't hang over my head requiring sending full shippers of non-shelf beer over a threat of being dropped.

You, sir, have an excellent memory. Turns out I actually reviewed that beer just over 6 years ago.

    Time, it flies.

It actually is, I can copy/paste several messages that I have received with people reaching out to me offering it. That being said, I agree with PG2G that if its a person I know in real life, it would be a different story.

Bottom line to me is why would I spend a few hours of my time to go do something for someone if I'm not happy with what I'm getting out of the deal? A lot of these people have me lugging around 8-10 cases of beer from the bruery, into my house, packing it up, lugging it back to the car, then into fedex, all while trying to be lowkey and not mess up my account I use for my own trades. Not to mention I end up storing it at my place for weeks while we send shippers back and forth. That makes my place look cluttered and at some points I'm having to step around beer. You really think someone should do that for 2 beers?

I have the same deal with all of my people I work with, either fill it up with stuff I can't get off the shelves or send me a couple rarer beers. For those that go above and beyond, we even trade growler fills to get us a little something extra.

All of that being said, if you are happy with your partnership, continue on with it. That's what this is all about. It should be a beneficial deal between both parties.

So that raises another question then. Why are they doing Gypsy Tart at the bruery and not terreux? Wasn't the whole point to not do anymore sours there so they would reduce the chances of infection? (Although I'm not a brewer and I could totally be making assumptions here on how a beer gets infected)

This talk of trustee treatment has me worried about how I'm taking care of my guy. This place is pretty barren as far as good beer goes but I pay for it to be shipped to his house and shipped to me. With fedex allowing a person to schedule a pickup it isn't too bad and I always pay him a little extra for his time. It also works in my favor that he doesn't want anything unless it's on the rarer side since we both have so much beer.

I trustee for someone in WV, and I really don't ask for much. He just sends me back beer I've never had, and that's fine with me. I don't need rare beers to be happy, just give me something that tastes good.

I really think it depends on what you agree to at beginning. If you are getting full allocations of everything and wanting to ship every month then you should be sending more then the guy getting a few bottles every few months. My friends get mine for me but i tell them to wait and let them sit in bruery cellar so it doesnt take up room and send when we have a full 12 bottle shipper to send.

The snippet he posted said it's a year round offering from Terreux.

And that's what they are 99% of the time. Its usually 12 bottles of local beers that taste good.

It takes some people more than a month to fill up a shipper??? I don't even know if I'm capable of not buying that much from allocations...

Technically if you are RS it could easily be 2 months to fill a 12+ shipper. I tend to buy full allocations and cannot recall when I was able to get 12 bottles, except towards the end of last year when we got backloaded with 4-5 allocations each month.

I'm between 12-18 bottles a quarter with 3-4 shipments a year with RS. I rarely max anything out unless it's a reliable sour (i.e. Filmishmish, Tart of Darkness variants, etc.) and BT variants; even then sometimes I don't max those.

I have a good buddy I trustee for. I do it for nothing . Seems like a no brainer. He also is not a BA'r so he has no idea of "protocol".

I know I'm in the minority, but the Smoking Wood series was one of my faves. Just cracked a Blueberry SW I got in my hydro flask (thanks @StonedRaider), and this is magnificent.

Just curious, how was the growler shipped? I haven't had any luck with shipping the flasks.

He tightened the living shit out of it (barely got it open), and bagged it. Threw it in with bottles in a 12 shipper. I put it in the cooler at work for two hours, chilled it just enough to get below room temp. It's not heavily carbed, but I like this beer a little flat anyway.

I trusteed for my Cousin for free and after a full year to be honest, I do agree it can be a bit of a pain. As long as both parties are happy that's all that matters. Whether it's a case of beer, or 2 rare beers, whatever. I know one guy who trustees for at least 5 people, and he does it simply because he's a true advocate of beer expecting nothing in return, but he ends up getting some sick boxes. With all that said, I'm more of the quid pro quo type. Family is free, anyone else a little compensation seems fair for the extended effort.

In other news. BLACKHAWKS. Gary Bettman (NHL Commissioner) said it best we are officially a dynasty! Bandwagoners welcome. S**t talkers welcome. Something awesome is getting cracked this weekend, that's for damn sure! Cheers!
