Not even close to the longest response/rant I've seen on this site.

Actually, all our fruited sours have always been packaged in 500ml olive green bottles.

...and we don't have any plans to switch from our current olive green 500ml bottles for our barrel-aged fruited sour beers.

Not a fan of sour beers at all and don't care what JK does. But gained a lot of respect for the brewery with the responses I have seen on this topic. Love the trashing of the 'JK is doing this to save money' conspiracy theory. As a business owner, it amazes me how few people understand how hard would be to put out a false story as a cover to save money.

God this thread is terrible. All of you whining about green bottles are the pretentious ones. What Jester King has been doing has been working, if they want to experiment let them. I think its awesome that they have explanations for why their doing something. Better than "We are doing this. Enjoy."

I don't know what's more pretentious, JK's explanations of why they're using green bottles, or a detailed response to it in a beer geek site denouncing pretentiousness (and using words like blustering, spurious or poppycock)? Perhaps my own post implying they were both pretentious?
In any event, I really enjoy the JK beers and if they said something pretentious, that wouldn't keep me from craving their stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole infection/sour beer brewing process one big experiment anyway? Besides, we all know the best way to store beer is on our back porch, without shade in the cool Texas summer season.

Technically the whole infection sour beer thing has been done for thousands of years... If anything it's the clean beers that are the experiment

Beer in general has been brewed for thousands of years.

and to think only a fraction of that time has there been a place to espouse utter horseshit opinions while being elitist and total cockknockers under the guise of advocacy.

what on earth did people do back then?

besides enjoy the beer, of course.

They bitched about the beer being served in metal vs pottery vessels.

Yes, but only for the last hundred years have yeast been isolated, so prior to that everything was a mixed culture.

Beer douchebaggery may actually predate beer. Be it crude hand gestures or cave drawings of some Neanderthal pitching someone's house beer off the edge of the world.

The advent of language and paper made things much easier. The printing press allowed brewers and beer geeks alike to suffer ridicule faster. Imagine August Busch Sr.'s surprise when he received the 1st ever 1 rating via telegraph.

Then television. Wowzers! Let us not forget the great Tastes Great vs Less Filling debate of the 90s.

Lol if JK wanted to sell out they have so many avenues to do so now that they're wildy popular. Saving a few pennies per bottle is not going to get them rich.

In regards to lightstruck beer, the vast majority of JK bottles are bought up by collectors and stored away in dark places so I don't see who's getting harmed exactly.

    The beer futures market.

I remember pre site purge there was a pretty heated debate involving Dan Prignon about Fantome's green bottles. Some guy kept going on and on with sciencey facts condemning green bottles. Dany finally said something to the effect of "you may know science but I know art." Argument over.

My view on this is more power to them. I don't necessarily agree with everything Jester King does but I hope this endeavor is a success.

Eh...Petite Prince definitely sees distro. I love the beer, and while I don't think I'd love a skunked version, I'm willing to give JK the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe the alpha acid content isn't high enough in the beer (which afaik is true for lambics too) to produce a full on skunk.

I'm curious how Noble King and Mad Meg will turn out though.
