    Wow!

"A treehouse meeting in May of seven of the company’s leaders, seated on the floor and in chairs, resulted in the final recipe and a name for the brewery’s 20th anniversary beer—a golden ale fermented with cherries and aged on cocoa nibs—that will be released in October and called Higher Math. It will be one of the brewery’s strongest beers ever, with an expected 20% alcohol by volume."

Why don't they barrel-age anything? And don't say Palo Santo Marron.

I guess they figure they've gone this long without a barrel program and been successful, no reason to start now.

I honestly find it more interesting to do beers like this with interesting flavor combos/techniques instead of just throwing it into a barrel.

Those 18-20% ABV messy booze bombs can really use some barrel-aging.

Apparently they aged Worldwide Stout on bourbon barrels one time but it was super limited, I think maybe it was a Brewpub Exclusive.

I think the 120 IPA might bed to differ.

They do... it's just not bottled.

^^^ Sam poured BBA WWS and I believe Chardonnay BA Noble Rot at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting last year, it was awesome

Sam should really consider bottling some.

Last year, they had it on at the brewery on Thursdays only I believe. It was excellent, but regular WWS is upon my favorite beers, so it didn't really need the barrel character imo. I'm curious as to how Higher Math will be available. I would guess it will get the 12oz $10/bottle treatment.

Let's advocate and celebrate what Dogfish Head does well instead of complain about things you want them to do...

Says the guy who asked Sam at SAVOR to bring back a brewpub exclusive made once. Ha.

I meant, barrel-aged, bottled and distributed. Not one or two kegs at some special event.

Super high abv and unconvential beer style.....would expect nothing less out of a 20th anniv DFH beer.

Can anyone else think of a beer thats aged on cocoa nibs that isnt a porter/stout? Probably not many, but im sure its been done before.

Well, to begin with, not enough storage space for barrels to do much.
