Is there a particular additive or flavoring in a beer that, try as you may, you just don't like?

For me it's coconut. Added mostly to stouts and porters, IMHO it tastes like somebody dosed my beer with piece of bar soap-yuck.

    What's your no no?

I don't like a the way vanilla tastes in MOST beers, there are exceptions, but the general rule is no vanilla....I think I'm done with habanero too

I agree, Hot peppers in beer have the opposite effect of what I am looking for in a beer.

Chiles (habanero, jalapeno, etc), vanilla (with some exceptions), mint (again with rare exception), hibiscus/flowers, and adjuncts that are added purely for the sake of novelty.

I only drink beers with water, malt, hops and yeast, so I'm not a fan of any aditives beside hops.

No additives for me. I like authentic representatives of beer styles.

Mint. It just never works for me. I am also not a huge fan of stouts with fruit added. I enjoy it with lighter styles like sours and saisons, but less so with stouts

I am willing to try anything. Unlike the others, coconut and vanilla are 2 of my favorites. Chile peppers are ok - a little heat goes a long way. I did pass on a Habanero Sculpin recently, just didn't seem right.

If this relates to the Radler or french press trend please don't get me started. I drink beer the way the brewer intended it to taste. If I'm really in the mood for fruit, cocoa nibs, toasted coconut , almonds, bourbon, chili's, marshmallows, the list goes on......I seek one out ...the way they brewed it. Otherwise to me- beer abuse.

I don't mind some lighter pepper flavors in certain beers but habanero is just too much. Kills the palate and hides the taste of any other additives or, more importantly, the beer itself.

Not specifically a flavoring, but I despise citrus fruits stuck on any glass of beer I've ordered, whether or not it's supposed to complement the style.
