It's probably the ambiance of drinking Guinness in a picturesque pub in Ireland that makes people think it's brewed differently.

The Guinness in Ireland would do absolutely nothing for you either because it's exactly the same beer we get here.

When I was a young impressionable lad my bro-in-law had me convinced "Guiness. It's the nectar of the gods."
I haven't had one in a long time, but I saw said bro-in-law today and asked him if he still imbibed. Yep, he's still drinkin' that Kool Aid.

All this talk of Irish car bombs has me craving one though.

I've drank Guinness since I was about 15 and I will continue to drink it til the day I die. Guinness Extra Stout is my go to of the Guinness variants. It's been a long time since I had a bottle of the Foreign Extra Stout because it's never on draught, which makes me forget that it exists, and it's usually a couple bucks more than the Extra Stout. Guinness Draught is only reserved for those times that I want a Car Bomb or on St. Patrick's Day.

Never had a Guinness. Too many other widely available stouts/porters that taste better IMO.

Agree with you! I rarely ever drink it, but I find myself having a few while sitting next to a campfire for some reason...always seems like a good pairing :-)

What in the world are they serving at your bars if BMC is fancy beer? ACTUAL cat piss?

After a long layoff, I'll drink at least three or four 6-packs a year. It's still the best sub-7% ABV stout I've had.

Haven't had in awhile. I did however, receive a Guinness, the 1759 yesterday and look forward to trying

I don't remember the last time Guinness even seemed like a legitimate option. Maybe I just don't go to the type of establishments where Guinness is the best beer on anymore. That's probably intentional.

I don't ever go out looking to drink it, but every once in a while I'll have a glass at a bar if its a BMC kinda bar.

I also, somehow, find myself having a glass or two on St. Patrick's day.

Actually, I think the world's longest running beer myth title goes to the imaginary Ben Franklin quote about beer. The Guinness story at least doesn't have t-shirts about it.

Yes. In fact sometimes, absolutely no other beer in the world hits the spot when i'm craving a Guinness.

Something about Guiness just scratches that itch I have every now and again. While I don't drink it on a normal basis I do have times when I suddenly crave it for some reason and I always enjoy it. FYI, Guiness is surprisingly low in calories which is an added bonus.

Are you arguing that there aren't other stouts available to choose from, or that few other stouts taste better than Guinness? Because I think a lot of people would disagree with you.

Guinness Draught is pretty weak and watery but Foreign Extra Stout is excellent.

Rarely. I don't miss the flavor much, but the texture of a perfectly poured, ice cold first few gulps, I still find hard to replicate. Guinness still has that going for me.
