Hey all, I'm from Buffalo, NY and plan on going this year with 2 friends. I've heard that you need to camp out the night before or else you'll miss out on some beers. Just looking for some advice to ensure I don't miss out on purchasing any bottles and have the best time possible. Thanks!

If you want ALL the beers being released then you'll need to get there by 2-3 a.m. assuming they don't have another type-o...
Also hope you remember this in what, SIX months?? Ha-ha cheers.

Last year you could show up during the party and still grab beer to-go, no need to camp unless you want every single beer they release and get smashed in-line before they start the party. Truth is the best beer released at 4 elf is BBpt5....my honest opinion anyway.

As was said to get ALL of the beer you need to be there by 2am at the latest but this is assuming there's another BourBrum situation otherwise any time during the night will be fine. Honestly plan on being there to bottle share as it's a blast in line waiting for the form to fill out. Just make sure someone in the group is coherent enough to fill out the forms for the group

BBPt5 is the main reason I'm going haha, one of the best barrel aged stouts out there. But that's good to know, depending on the lineup they announce I might camp out before anyways just so I don't miss any of the beers

I got there at noon last year and got a case of BBPT5.

I got there Monday or Tuesday (can't remember exactly) after the party and was able to get 2 cases of regular BBPT5 waiting for about a half hour in line. I think they're making way more of this stuff every year.

I did this last year as well and I'm going to do it again this year. If I get some BBPT5, great. If not, I'll enjoy a kick ass party. I don't know how everyone stays up all night in the cold knocking down whales and then catching a second wind to enjoy the party.

Plan on staying a while. We were there on Friday night and ended up being #'s 192 & 193 in line. The first 200 ended up scoring the Double Barrel BourbRum Plead the 5th, so we just made it in time. We also scored the 2013 BB Plead and the 2014. Our line position was far better than that initially, but when security made everyone pack it up at 5:00am, the line jumpers made their move and it was a fiasco from that point on. Hopefully, they'll find a better way to organize it this year. Also, if you haven't been to Dark Horse lately, the beer garden has expanded almost all the way to the back, it's now a hard surface back there, and the side buildings have been cleaned out and have picnic tables in them now. They really did a great job. Last year was our first camp out. We had a fantastic time. Made new friends and tried new beers. We'll be back.

Last year, they sold 2012 and 2013 bottles of BBPt5 while they had plenty of the 2014 on hand. Enough that they did sell the remainder until possibly Thursday of the following week. Makes me wonder if they sold all of the 2014 out just so they will only sell the current year's BBPt5, Double Barrel BourbRum, and Rum Barrel 4Elf. We'll see, but not too soon. We have to enjoy the summer first.

2 years ago I got there at 3:45am & was one of the last to get BBPt5th but last year they basically doubled production so it was available all day during 4 elf & a couple of days after. Personally I took 4 friends with me & we got there at 2:30am and we were sad that the bottle share had to end so early so plan on hanging out overnight, meet people around you & there will be bottles all over to share. After you order then have a blast at the party because it's great time & they have tons of special taps so pace yourself

Yeah you need to be there a lot earlier than 2 to get the short supply stuff. I hope they have volume of bbpt5 this year like last. If so, no camping for me. I'll just come to the party and get my 2 cases. I got so bombed in line doing bottle share, I missed the real 4elf. But I was back later to get my bbpt5.

If you get in line right now, you should be good. Stop trying to make Summers in the Midwest feel shorter than they already are.

I do feel guilty talking about this already haha, but believe me there's no way Buffalo summers are any longer

Is it too early to start talking about the Summer Solstice party?

I just savored one of my painstaking BBPT5's tonight, it was so delicious. It really took me back to those moments of standing in the bitter cold for 8 hours as I slayed whale after whale, only to find out my placement in line was severely gimped and that Double Barrel Plead and 2012 Plead were no longer an option. So I took my 2 cases of 2014, 2 4pks of Rum Barrel 4elf, and 2 4pks of 2013, and went my merrily way, surviving a 36 hours streak of no sleep or bathroom usage only to pass out and sleep for 12 hours into the next morning, waking up with what felt like a quake going on in my head.

I can't way for this year's party, I plan to actually enjoy it this time, especially since I could care less about all the extras (until the time comes close and I get tempted =D).
