Both very tasty but in very different ways. The 2011 is Brandy barrels and has strong flavors of raisins, figs, and dates; the 2013 is Bourbon barrels and is actually pretty similar to the Sucaba I had last night, caramel and toffee and vanilla and bourbon.

 

I preferred the '11 brandy to the '09 bourbon a few months back

 

I rated the Brandy a quarter point higher than the Bourbon when they were still cold, but having warmed the Bourbon has at least caught up. I really like how boozy the Brandy one is. Not hot, just boozy. Both are very nice. Now I wish there was a 2015 one I could've opened with these to celebrate all 3 of my kids (born in 2011, 2013, and 2015 respectively)

 

@RuckIt has been killing me in 12 days and it officially hasn't started yet...he should come play here he would fit in quite nicely... #vbs #pgw #datglass

 

So... Vacation is coming up in a couple weeks. I'm headed to the Outer Banks for a week from 7/11-7/18.

I don't think we have any Locals close by, but any ideas of good stopping points along the way in VA or NC?

Also I'd like to have some WB Gose for the beach. Anybody able to do a #pickitupformebro?

 

Not sure, but how close is @Dave_Treat? And if you want a poor man's Westbrook, pick up some Old Pro Gose in MD. In fact, do it anyway and see what you think.

 

That's exactly how I'd describe Old Pro, which still leaves is in my top 4 or 5 of the style. Also, SWTFYW has a couple more people in that area than Locals does.

 

Crossposting from 12-days for the sake of my AA target in case he doesn't follow that other thread...

So Friday and Saturday I did some buying/picking up for myself, my 12-days, and my AA targets. A goodly portion of this picture is going out in the next day or so. Also just noticed that my 12-days target's birthday falls on a Saturday. This revelation should probably be somewhat foreboding for my target. #HL2015

Also note, I had some LCOAL hops I had planned to throw into these boxes, but upon inspection, and even though I purchased them less than a week ago, the canning date was 4/24. No worries though, I will still enjoy them. This just means BOTH targets should watch out for some additional hops and extras later in July (along with some swag).



While packing, deciding on order, etc, I got thirsty...

My AA box is going out tomorrow to someone I have sent beer to but not #datglass...... Until now

 

Alright AA target, let's talk.

I can't explain why I haven't checked before, but I hopped on your WANTS list tonight. Is it safe to assume the lack of anything from Casey, Crooked Stave, or Avery (barrel aged sours) is an oversight? I'm glad I looked because I'm taking the opportunity to dig into my cellar so these first 2 boxes will have at least 1 WANT, but you are a tough nut to crack. I see a few other I can hit, just need to talk to a few guys locally who I'm certain can help me out.

So...long story short, don't stress--there's at least 1 more box coming mid July containing swag, some extras, and now that I see this, hopefully a few more wants. In the meantime...PLEASE let me know ASAP if you are NOT interested in beers from Casey, Crooked Stave, or Avery. No hard feelings, but I can definitely find good homes (or my belly) and use my remaining time to change my strategy quite a bit here...
