The new lbrewery, Lagunitas #3, initial capacity c.420K bbls, built-out capacity: 1MM bbls, will be in Azusa CA...too cool, me thinks.
It's spittin distance fr the Irwindale Miller Brewery. No State grants, no City money asked. A nice new building already under construction.
Gonna take until early 2017 to get her up and brewing, lotsa work between now and then and we can't wait...! Cheers to the Southland...!

This is great news, 2017 can't come soon enough. My guesses as to why Azusa, easy freeway access for trucks for distribution without having to fight all the LA traffic, land is easier come by, and they can build this huge facility next to miller and kinda say FU to miller.

Good call! Depending on just how close "spitting distance" is, this might end up being nearby the forthcoming Irwindale station.

It's sort of baffling that a brewery with national reach like Lagunitas would build a second brewery in CA at this point, for two major reasons. One, the state is in a drought and will be in a drought for the foreseeable future, so water is going to become increasingly scarce and expensive. Two, it doesn't extend the reach of their distribution in any real manner. I guess you could argue that it gives them presence in Southern California but their beer is already well represented here. Building something on the East Coast seems like it would've optimized their distribution reach a lot better and avoided the water issue entirely.
