Signups, not bottle pickups. Every Tom, Dick, Harry that thinks driving 1 hour from the city is too far and long will clamor to Homestead and screw locals.

And for the record - I live in Lawrenceville and Homestead is much more convenient for me.

I hate to say it, but honestly, I agree.

I don't have an issue driving to Meadville, but I do have an issue with being expected to drive to Meadville in the middle of the day during the work week. If the sign ups start in the evening or on the weekend, I think that's fine... But just because some of us can't bounce from the office at 2pm on a Wednesday that doesn't mean we want or deserve their beer any less.

This. No issues for me at all.

Who got screwed? Weren't there open allotments available for multiple weeks before they opened it up to Homestead?

I saw an IG post a few months ago of chili peppers and barrels in the background. If there is any God in heaven, they will release Grande Negro Voodoo Papi again!

The weather was atrocious during that time. I remember seeing flipped cars on the road up to Meadville. I just think it makes sense to do that kind of thing (mostly) at the brewery.

I don't know, I think the pre-sign-ups did a pretty good job of eliminating clusterfuckage on their own. I mean still got a good crowd for the tap release, but no lines out the door camping over night just for bottles.

If they announce they will be releasing stouts or barleywines, there won't be. This was solely the product of the styles they released imo.

I could be talking out my ass but I thought I did see a barrel pic they shared labeled "GNVP."

I think both communities had an equal chance to buy an allotment at both pubs. Yes, you may have had to drive to up Meadville, but at least they changed their mind to release at Homestead. At first I don't think it was ever planned to have that release at homestead at all.

This is absolutely correct. We should not be penalized for having a demanding career, and every other loafer can wake up at noon and go buy all the beer so we don't get any. Sorry but I am still salty about the KBS releases at GE this year...

Initially it was Meadville only. They expanded it to Homestead when allotments didn't move as quickly as they thought. I think the styles and the fact that the weather in Meadville was atrocious at the time both played a part.

Regardless, I hope everyone that bought allotments this time around, gets dibs on the next release. :sunglasses:

No but it's a valid point. So I shouldn't have their beer because I can't drive 90 minutes away in the middle of a work day? That makes no sense and there has to be a happy medium. Splitting the sign ups between Meadville and Homestead is a happy medium, but I would be content with moving the sign ups to the weekend or making them start later in the evening.

I know there was some speculation in the previous Pittsburgh thread that this might be the case. That would be awesome.

I drove up to Meadville the first Saturday that they announced the release. I can't even begin to explain how surreal the trip was. By far the craziest weather I've ever driven in.

I just want to put it out there are people who work just as hard as other people, but work nights or other horrible hours and is it wrong for them to go get a limited beer at noon before they go to work? I know it sucks to not to be able to grab that limited beer on the shelf you wanted, but that's what this hobby is like right now.

Could not agree more. BR3 was announced on like a Thursday evening at like 7pm I believe? So it was basically go drive 3 hours back and forth and be terrible at work friday, or risk not getting to sign up. I waited till Friday evening and went up. But (like mentioned before) if these were stouts and barleywines, all of the Got Damn neckbeards would have trolled up there with countless mules. As long as it is at both pubs or on a weekend then it should work out fine.

Splitting the allotments to 2 places only further allows more people who don't work a normal work schedule (or at all for the matter) to get to 2 different places to buy their allotment thus effectively reducing the gross number of allotments.

For the record, I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I have a normal work schedule relatively speaking and can't walk away in the middle of the afternoon. For this past release, they announced it on a Thursday evening and I was up there Friday night after work. 3+ hour round trip.

You are correct. It would just be nice for everyone to have a fair shot. But that is not the world we live in, I suppose.
