Just wondering how many bottles of this are still out there as I'd be interested in obtaining one. I'm well aware of the issues that came with it's (near) release but do know that some bottles made it out there. "Gots" shows 22, but we all know that usually isn't accurate. Anyone willing to trade me one and (for everyone) what is a good gauge on it's "value"? Thanks guys.

They had problems with the batch and decided against bottling it. There were a few bottles, but not many. Take a look at the number of reviews from bottles compared to the others in the series.

The Boise crew got some in a Deschutes throwdown a while back. There were probably 6-8 bottles given out to the geeks. But the only reason we got them is because we brought "long discontinued" bottles to the tasting. The Deschutes folks were amazed at the stuff we brought that wasn't in their cellars.

I traded one to a BA for some very limited NE/SE stuff... We both threw down a bunch of random/rare extras. I know we both felt good walking away.

I "heard" there were only about 100 bottles that ever released to the public.... but I figure that is pretty damn low given Boise had 10%ish of that number released at tastings and to random dudes. That said, all the bottles we opened have been fine, with maybe some minor cocoa floaties in the head... no off flavors, no weird aromas, just random brown flecks in the head.

    I hope this helps. Toby.

That would be this BA, and thanks again Toby, can't wait to try it!
As far as value goes, it's really tough to say.. It probably hasn't been traded a lot so there may not be a a good referance point. It will depend on the individual. My trade with johngalt1 was a fairly large one and the XXII was part of it. There was a Damon involved but technically, the XXII was traded for some cool Old Hickory stuff and the Damon for a few others. That being said, I personally would have traded the Damon + for just the XXII.
It's the equivelent of a rare mis-printed baseball card or coin or something, so the right person would value it for that reason.it also apparently tastes just as it should, but has a slightly cloudy appearance. The Anny series from Deschutes are my favorite beers so It has tremendous value to me since I now am one of the few people that can say that I have every single bottle. That makes me happy..
Good luck in your search for a bottle.. It most likely will be a laborious one. I got lucky and my own personal White Wale just kinda fell into my lap when I traded with Toby.
    Cheers!

A bottle of XXII showed up at a Bay Area bottle share about a month ago. Not sure of the exact origins, but they're out there, especially among people who have done business with Descutes...

More importantly, what would it take to land an XX?

Thanks for all the info guys. Sounds like I'm trying to track down a needle in a haystack so maybe I should just be content with the hole-y vertical.

I traded away a BCBS Vanilla to a great trading partner to get one a few weeks ago. Probably wouldn't have to go that far but like I said, he's the man.

Sounds like he was being generous. People are allowed to give up 'rare' beer for beer they want. I mean, I think they are; I'm not always so sure about this anymore.

The crazy thing about XXII, is that its been far and away, the best one yet (at least on tap). . . its like as if instead of Billy Ripken having the fuckface error card, it was Cal Ripken Jr. instead (superstar + rare/error).

And no, I don't, nor ever have had, any bottles.

To echo beerandraiderfan, XXII was the best I've had of all of them, thanks to oregonskibum for the growler, it made a lot of folks verrrrry happy. I'm guessing bottles must be drinking pretty fine right now.
