Not a new beer, but Delirium Tremens was a big sad trombone moment for me.

am I the only one here that thinks anything from Cantillon is way overrated................... wait a minute I love anything from Cantillon worth the hype my biggest let down has to be ET's biscotti beers, taste nothing like biscotti and way to sweet to drink all at once

I didn't care for Cantillon when it was easy to get and I doubt the hype has improved it much.

I thought the original Dragon's Milk was good, but the one with Raspberries tasted very artificial. Think cough syrup.

I was quite letdown with the Citrus...Lagunitas.
Perhaps I've been spoiled by all the GF Sculpin as of late, but I expected a lot more. And none of the beers in the six pack changed my mind.
    Good, just not great

Abner and Double citra were decent, but with the hype and ratings they got I was disappointed. If I am going to pay a high price for a top rated beer, and I have many times, I expect it to be exceptional. In my opinion they were not, but there you go. Its just my opinion. Clearly others disagree with me which is fine. After all, this is still a semi free country and opinions come with the territory!!!
I am glad your experience was better than mine.

Dark Lord is the biggest hype disappointment there is. I like most of the BA versions, but 2-year brandy was nooooo bueno.

I haven't tried any of their rare/harder to find beers so I can't comment there. I've had their standard offerings on tap, from the bottle and growler and tasters at the source. I agree that they're good beers, they just didn't live up to the hype for me.

Exactly what I was going to say. Awesome beer no doubt but not earth changing.

That wasn't real Nelson or Duet. Come to San Diego and get the real stuff.

Just my $.02. I tried Nelson last summer in San Francisco and LOVED it. Like top 5 of all time loved it. Then I had it again last month in Chicago, and it sucked. Anecdotal evidence that the GF brewed stuff really is inferior.

Evil Twin Lil' B. Got excited by the reviews but it was terrible, a drain pour. I think it was infected so maybe I try again. Also, SUCKS. I really like most of Lagunitas' portfolio but I just don't get why that particular beer is so popular on here. They make sooo many better ones than that.

I thought Ballast Point's Victory at Sea was hugely disappointing. After reading reviews about how good it was, I sought it out and found some. I thought it had zero vanilla taste and tasted like burnt coffee and I do love me a good coffee stout.

bought it in downtown Indy at one of the two big bottle shops 6 months ago. it was 2-3 weeks old. malt bomb city. i actually prefer it on tap -- drank it continuously in '12 - '13 in HSV , AL at the Nook. Perhaps it's just my Trillium/HF/Alchemist/Tree House fried palate....

Bruery days of the week. Grey Monday, Black Tuesday, Mocha Wednesday - all disappointing. Chocolate Rain was somewhat better than those three.

Several years ago there was a beer called Adelscott at a liquor store I passed coming home from work. I debated buying it, because I did not want to buy a 4-pack and take the risk that it would suck. I did not have much spare $$$ at the time. I checked 2 - 3 times a week, and eventually they had a single available. So after at least 4 months of looking, I finally got it and tried it.

Adelscott is made with peat-smoked malt. I figured that's what whiskey is made from, so it should be good.

It wasn't. It was horrible. It is one of only two beers (out of over 800) that got a rating of less than 1.5. Actually, it was 1.03. The only beer worse was Crazy Ed's Cave Creek Chili beer, which I gave a 1.00 to.

If you want to have my comparison, imagine this. You know those small planting pots made of peat moss that you can put directly into the ground after your seeds have started growing? Imagine putting one of those in your mouth. Put a tablespoon of sugar into it. Then take a warm Bud Light that has been sitting in your trunk for about a month. The month of August. In Georgia. Open the can , tilt your head back, pour it into the peat moss pot in your mouth, and suck the beer through. That's what it was like.

This was a beer that I can honestly say I had to take two sips of. Because the first one was so bad I couldn't believe it and had to prove it to myself again.

This beer has a 66 rating on BA, which I think is too high. Unfortunately it has not been retired, so there will be more poor unsuspecting souls who will be tricked into drinking this beer. May God be with them all.

West Ashley. Wanted one for so long and when I finally got it I was incredibly underwhelmed.

Respect your opinion, but my experiences with them have been nothing short of jaw-droppingly exceptional.... have always been worth the trouble to get them.
