You seem a tad harsh on the appearance: that pic looks decent to me . BA does list it as an American Strong Ale, not a DIPA, so I'd expect less hop punch. However, I counter that with the fact that THEY say "super hopped". Ha! Feel I am defending a beer I've never had, but really just found this review randomly interesting . Cheers!

Absolutely will do. I'll still be around on Sundays. Just no database review stats, otherwise all systems go.

What I omitted from my review is the short paragraph on the bottle going on & on ...& on about how brutally bitter & hoppy this brew is supposed to be.

Ha, I assure you, it looks far less appetizing in person. I was actually thinking about that- for whatever reason, in the pic, it actually looks pretty good. :-)

@woemad , I've gotten so used to thinking of you as a small furry BA, it's weird envisioning you as a human BA :stuck_out_tongue:

Well I'm back for a third turn this Sunday as I open one of the big guns in my BIF package from @strohme2 a little while ago and with the finishing of this 750ml bottle of Blushing Monk from Founders it may very well be my last post for the evening as once again work will require me to be on the road about 3:45 am tomorrow morning. Now on to less depressing things like my review of this wonderful beer.
Well the other good thing this afternoon is that the rain has stopped for now but my rain gauge sits at 3.99 inches in the last 24 hours. I think that pretty much ends our drought for now.

Blushing Monk pours a dark reddish brown color when poured into my tulip glass with a very thin white head which disappears in a few seconds.
The nose is consumed by the wonderful raspberry aroma and nothing but that comes through.
The taste is smooth a little sweet with the raspberry the defining taste. There is a little hint of malt in the back but very faint do to the raspberry.
The mouthfeel is clean and crisp even with the sweetness of the raspberry.
This is a wonderful full bodied fruit beer IMO but of course raspberry is probably my favorite berry and I can't wait to be picking some here in my yard in another month or so. My thanks again to @strohme2 for sending me this beer as I passed on it in my bottle shop here when it was available. I know now that was a big mistake on my part.
I may be back for one more round this evening but that will be a stretch but with so many great beers still left from the box I feel maybe I should take the time to share one more with all of you here today.

The previous avatar was a nod to the unofficial animal of the city where I live (Marmot City, USA, you could call us), but I had to change it, since Chris Squire has been such a favorite musician of mine for so many years. I was really hoping to see a live show by Squackett (band he formed with Steve Hackett; they were both enthusiastic of doing a tour for it), but it's not to be.

I'm rolling over here. Nothing green. I'm just making progress going through my beloved mothers "stuff." Found some very cool homemade Chritmas ornaments from my older sister, younger brother, and me. Wow, memories. Such simpler times. Sometimes we need a little styrofoam ball, painted, decorated with sequins, and scribed with a name in glitter to remind us of all of the good things in our childhood.

Anyways, thanks to @Prager62 I have had some good company. I started with a little Hoosier love from 18th Street. Then moved up to Michigan for a hoppy interlude. And now, continuing on the hoppy, I'm enjoying a Vallejo IPA from Half Acre:

Fairly vigorous pour...WHOA NELLY! About 4 oz in to the pour and I've got 4 fingers of fluffy white bubbles trying to pounce out otf the glass. Golden and somewhat cloudly. Slowly taperd off to a light white layer of tiny bubbles. Even with the initial explosion of foam, there was little aroma. What did come through was lightly citrusy in the orange meets grapefruit direction. Flavor is more of the same yet hints at piney too. Good flavor, slightly sticky while being a tad thin at the same time. Like the difference in mouthfeel between your typical Session IPA vs. your standard American IPA. Finish stays with you for a while carrying a pleasant orange zest meets grassy hay.

Pretty good stuff. This NBS BIF is definitely helping this teacher enjoy his summer.:grinning:

Nice. I'm playing "Lucky Seven" from his one and only solo album right now. I started off today playing Miles Davis's Birth of the Cool as a kind of tribute to Gunther Schuller, who played on that album and who died last week, and had some Spokane connections (oddly, as a classical conductor), and now the grim reaper has me playing another album.

It's been another long week of packing, moving, unpacking, mudding, and cleaning. We're finally close to being finished with all of it and just enjoying the countryside. In case I haven't mentioned it prior, I recently moved back home to rent the apartment on the back of one of my mother's properties... hoping to help restore the beauty and save a few bucks, along the way.

It's been a rough couple of weeks. On top of everything else my grandfather, a man who's helped me so much, has been struggling to hold on. I've been met with many questions lately, some with no answers, but in the end all you can really do is love those around you. Hold on for your dearest... it all gets better.

    Minor Case/ Major Depression.

    And now to Beer.

^^^That bomber up there is most definitely new to me.

A- Beautiful farmhouse-head. Fluffy & full of lace that creeps down the glass after the poor. The body is an opaque lemon-gold. Tangerine & pineapple comes to mind.

S- Mild banana/clove/white pepper which is nice for the style. A bit of lemon, cement, grass ,and orange pith. Very good. Reminds me a bit of Tank 7, but without as much phenol character.

T- Again, a light citrus of lemon, mango, and orange pith. Mild mineral characteristics with a touch of vegetal, grassy, hop. The hop bitterness is there, but it's almost non-existent in the aroma, making it quite refreshing.

M- Perfect carb to begin with. Slightly effervescent, to the point where it rolls across the tongue in a stream of little popping, yet silky, bubbles. It's mildly tart in this respect.

O- For the price that I paid I would happily drink this on a nightly basis. It blows Prairie Standard out of the water and has a slightly less ester-forward nose than Tank 7. Love, love, love.

OOPS, had to EDIT. While I have maximum respect for @LehighAce06 , my benefactor was actuall @Prager62 , and I listed otherwise for the Vallejo IPA. Sorry for the brain fart.

Happy Sunday everyone. I hare read the first five pages of this thread and enjoyed many of your posts. I am lucky to have treehouse about an hour from my house and.have been there a few times. I do not wait in line for beer more then a couple times a year and every time I wait in line it is at treehouse. They have a great place ang a great attitude. Last night I enjoyed their Eureka with Citra, which tastes like a session IPA should taste like. Wow what a great small beer. Tonight I am drinking their 8.2% haze Dipa.

Look: hazy orange color with a little lacing, head disappears quickly 3.75
Smell: tropical, slight citrus, and resiny 4.5
Taste: hoppy and tropical (mango), with only a hint of malt flavor 4.75
Feel: a little thin for the style 4
Overall: a great showcase of hops, I like this beer. 4.5

    Total: 4.51

Based on the other reviews, I figured it might be isolated to this batch.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it. Guess I just had it pictured differently in my head...

    Cheers!

If that's the view from you new digs, you have my congratulations. I grew up in a place where the primary form of life was sagebrush, and now the view out my living room window is of downtown Spokane and I-90, so I'd love to look out in the morning and see all that green.

Good evening, NBSers. I hope you've had a wonderful week and are enjoying an exceptional new beverage (or two ..... or three). I've been traveling a LOT, but no travel this week, and with Mrs. O off on a boondoggle with her sisters, Ranger and I are fending for ourselves. Sounds like a great time to attempt the NBSers dream - the TRIPLE PLAY. First up, this offering from 18th Street Brewery out of Gary, IN.

    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Look: murky golden goodness with 1-1/2 fingers of opaque white head.

Smell: some earthy hops, a little booze, maybe a little Brett-like aroma.

Taste: some hops up front, then the yeast (Brett?) kicks in. Before it can develop, a salty flavor hits the back of the throat.

Fell: very light, given the ABV, and VERY dry.

Overall: the first beverage I've had from 18th Street that wasn't a home run. This had a little bit of an IPA mixed with a wit mixed with a saison mixed with a gose. It's not undrinkable but it's ..... confusing.
