Above is the label for Bourbon Barrel Buffalo Sweat, which will be a part of the new "Explorer Series" from Tallgrass Brewing. This will come packaged in 12oz cans (which is smaller than the 19.2oz cans we saw in Tallgrass' first barrel-aged offering...Velvet Rooster). Word is this beer will come in around 7%ABV and will start hitting shelves this Fall and should see distro in the Tallgrass footprint. Stoked!

They have decided to move to 4pks (I believe) of 12oz. I will miss the 19.2's myself!

Sounds tasty for sure...wonder how many people will complain about the Bourbon flavor upfront, as with Dragons Milk Stout..

I'm pretty sure that Tallgrass' first barrel-aged beer was the Wooden Rooster. Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to this and the rest of the Explorer Series releases later in the year. Probably will have to pick up a few of the Explorer Mix Packs too once those get released.

Had their RIS aged in Makers Mark barrels a couple of months back (Area 51 RIS) which was a bit of a let down. The base beer was completely lost to the barrel character. I am hoping this one does a lot better job of balancing the flavors. Excited to try all the same.

That would be my fear for this one especially if they don't up the ABV/malt bill

This, Wooden Rooster, and Big RICC all have me pretty excited. I wonder if there is any hope for Bourbon Vanilla Buffalo Sweat. A guy can dream.
