I almost never seem to mind beers that are referred to as too sweet (i.e. Big Luscious, Pumking, or whatever flavor of the month). In fact, I really enjoy dessert type beers. I recently had a 2012 JW Lees Harvest Ale aged in a sherry cask that I thought was wonderful.

But even having just said that, my sweet tooth can sometimes be sated pretty quickly by some select beers. One winter I was having a 10oz pour of Southern Tier's Creme Brulee, after the first two sips I was in love and thought without a doubt I'd order a second glass. But by the time the first glass was 3/4 drank I could hardly stomach another mouthful.
Pump[KY]n was another beer that even after having a small pour of 8oz I didn't want any more. Almost sickly sweet.

Given that you are at least in the mood for a dessert beer. Are there any sweet beers that are too sweet for you?

God that Creme Brulee... I had 2-4 oz and was in heaven. Felt like barfing with every sip after.

I had Not Your Father's Root Beer last night. It was just about too sweet for me. Still deciding. Thats the only beer I've felt that way about so far.

Two beers brought that reaction from me so far: Grey Monday and Dark Lord. WAY too sweet for me.

Yup, Creme Brulee was the first thing I thought of, too. It's so good, but it's definitely a share-with-one-or-two-other-people beer. I do love to mix the Creme Brulee with the Pumking, but that one's a sharer, too.

I'm generally not a fan of sweet/overly malt beer. I need me some hops to balance that sweetness out. The sweetest beer I still enjoyed was Imperial Biscotti Break. I had Troegs' Troegenator a couple of months, and it was too sweet for my tastes. The first sip was pretty good, but I could barely finish it. It's like trying to drink an entire cake.

I only hate Malty Sweet IPAs. These other beers you speak of...hand em over.. Come on.

Another ST Crème Brulee first to mind. Drank the whole bomber myself about a month ago. Instant diabetes.

There are lots of beers that are too sweet for me, foods as well. So when I want a dessert beer I try to do the same thing I do when I want a dessert. Have a small serving...enough to enjoy but not so much that the sweetness becomes a chore.

I'm not a big sweet tooth kinda guy. I'll take a cut of steak over a candy bar, grilled shrimp over cake, a mortadella sandwich over ice cream, etc. - any day of the week...
Though I do enjoy plenty of sweet beers, there is one popular group of that came off as cloyingly sweet even though I've probably even had beers just as sweet that I did enjoy...
Beers in question: ST's Mokah, Choklat, Jahva, and Crème Brulee (though I do like Pumking).

Agreed - Creme and Orange chocolate are both too sweet for me, - but if I can sip the orange chocolate from southern their , I do enjoy it. Tastes like a tootsie pop.

3 Floyds/Mikkeller Black Flame imperial stout. I bought two bombers of it. I drank both of them by myself but damn what a chore. Over the top sweetness but so much hoppiness and flavor that its hard not to come back for more. Its torturous and delicious.

Easily the sweetest beer I've had. It even blows Dark Lord away in that regard.

Not sure how sweet ST choklat was...I finished a whole bomber in one sitting. Beer was way too delicious to let it sit. ST Creme Brulee - yes, very sweet, but I treated it like a dessert. Spread it over 3 days...and enjoyed every sip. Each to his/her own. But I agree with Pump[KY]n....just too sweet of a beer, even 4 oz is plenty much for a sitting.

Most big, sweet beers I love but I'm only good for 6oz or less most of the time and that's about the limit.

Creme Brulee for sure. Cafe Royale from Williamsburg Alewerks gets a lot of love but the one I had was way too sweet. Samichlaus Helles is in that ballpark too. And I like sweet beers.

+1 to the Creme Brulee and the Not Your Fathers Root Beer. I don't get it with the ST Choklat, Jahva, or Mokha though.

Most any malternative beverage (like Mikes Hard, Smiirnoff Ice, etc) gave me a stomachache, like the sugar was eating my stomach from the inside out.
