hey all, I found a defective bottle cap on a bottle of Sleeman's Original so the bottle was all moldy inside. Should I return the full box or is it safe to drink the rest of them? Thanks.

The remaining beers are safe to drink. Just wipe them with a damp cloth to clean the cap and neck before opening and pouring.

If you want to you should be able to exchange the damaged box for a new one, depending on the laws of your state. (Some prohibit return of things like beer.) Don't remove anything. Close it back up as you found it. Let the store open it after describing the problem.

BTW: There are other examples of that type of beer that many prefer to Sleeman. You might want to spend some time exploring the site here for information and reviews of beers.

You didn't pay to wipe mold off beers. Contact the brewery and explain what happened. If they don't compensate or over compensate you just spend a fair amount of time blasting them. No excuse for mold

Defective bottle cap? What do you mean?
The rest of the beer is safe, but I'd take a pic and send it to the brewery cos that bottle should have never made it to market. Said brewery should step up their QA/QC program a bit.

There are plenty of breweries with QA/QC programs that are REALLY good, but things can still happen!

The important thing is to always let the brewery know what you found. You may or may not get compensation for whatever issue you have, but i promise they want to know about it!

True. There are enough eyes on beer in package production through to the warehouse that it shouldn't have made it onto the market, so I am wondering about the defective bottle cap and what that means. Also, Sleemans is by no means a small brewery so I'm willing to bet that what humans can't see due to the speed of packaging production. Machines are in place with sensors that would.
    So, pics please!

even the machines let some through sometimes, as well as the people. just the nature of the beast!
