From the standpoint of a person who got his allotment of FO, I understand why y'all got your jimmies jammed. The guy who got 6 cases at the FO dinner, people who showed up at the beginning of the release getting shut out, liquor stores sold out in a half hour, yeah, it's been a *****house mess.

Couple things to keep in mind, tho.

The people at BL seem like decent folk. They communicate, which is all you can ask, because the rest eventually works itself out. A brewery coming into its own like BL is going to have their FUBAR releases and events, like Alesmith, Societe, the Bruery, Kern River, and on and on.

But if they give a shit about the customer, things WILL get better. Give 'em a chance.

I'm almost certain El Cerrito will be getting a case. They had Dark star sitting around for awhile.

You could drink beer while you play your Fallout game of choice, and only buy things if you've physically got enough bottle caps set aside, although that could get rough.

ITT: People who don't understand how to properly acquire a coveted release.

To the people complaining about showing up to both the release and liquor store, only to find out they are sold out.
Do you know what social media is? I guarantee you every person who got a bottle of FO, was glued to their IG/FB/Twitter. You can be upset all you like, but the fact remains that the people who got these bottles are people who took more time and effort to get them.

I didn't just look at the clock the day of the release and guess when was a good time, I got there an hour and a half early, because of the simple fact that this is a LA beer release and 9 times out 10 its going to be a cluster fuck if you arrive 'on time'.

If you aren't going to follow an IG post for 4 hours to see if they mention the liquor store, then I'm sorry but you just don't want the beer enough. There are people who will waste a whole day for A SINGLE beer. You can argue the bottle limit was to high or the dinner fucked people, but you are arguing over a few hundred more bottles, which would have lasted another 20 mins on the release day.

Also this thread is a total shit show. Three + pages of people being internet tough guys over their definition of valuable beers.

I live in the Midwest for most of the year. This was definitely much easier than the Chicago Black Friday Fiasco. Talking about getting there early? I got in line at 5AM and I was like 400th in line. 20 degrees out. 10 minutes and I said screw it and just drove out to a smaller shop. At some point you start thinking, is this really worth it for a beer?

My suggestion is this if people are against BPT. Jackie O's has a great system in place for their 350 bottle count releases. They start their event the day before and hand out calendar pages. Thing starts at 4pm. If you're first in line you get Jan 1st, and so on. That night they have their beers on tap as well as some special brews for the event. Next day is the release. You don't have to wait too long to grab your beer. You simply wait till they call out your month/day, get in line real quick, grab your allocation, pay, and then go back to drinking with your friends. It avoids the clusterfuck of just having to wait in line the whole time and possibly miss out. Based on the amount of pages given out sets up the bottle count as well. Easy in and out and you get to enjoy the atmosphere.

For all of you complaining and blaming bottle logic about how the release went, give them a break. I'm sure they did the best the could under the circumstances. AND IT'S STILL ON TAP...! You ALL had the chance to DRINK some... which should be what's important. If you don't take the opportunity to go down there and have it, you can't blame that on them.

Man, I can't wait until the day these guys that are arguing get seated next to each other at BL or The Bruery, and not know they got in an internet cat fight. Maybe the even become friends, share beer stories, beard grooming techniques, I don't know, I just don't. Maybe down the road they, dare I say, trade some beer, perhaps? And then it starts to unravel........

Eh, I'm always down to share a beer with someone I make fun of, argue with or what have you... I mean, I did go to bottle shares with Moe after all.

Glad to hear BL wised up and stopped giving the location of the distributed beer. Sadly, FO is tapped out at the brewery.

I know a few shops that were irritated with them doing that in the first place.
