With all the can crave going on these days, I can't think of a brewery that I'd want more to start canning than Deschutes. I've seen some dated rumors and pics, but haven't heard any news of this becoming a reality. All I know is, I could do some damage on some Mirror Pond, Black Butte, Inversion, etc. year round! Anyone else? Hopefully someone out there knows a little something...

An article on Wisconsin canning stated that New Glarus is considering in the next couple years. Talk about crushing Moon Man while on the inner tube going down the Wolf River!

Why cans? Let's get Deschutes to put their beer in cardboard boxes.

Seriously. Gives IPAs/DIPAs such a shelf life edge, and every stout that I have had in a can has been excellent.

I do like sours in 750s though...

I've read quotes from Gary Fish saying essentially that he's interested in canning but does not currently have the space for a canning line.

I think some things just seem out of place in cans - sours, as you mentioned, lambics, big stouts, etc. Pretty much everything else belongs in cans. It's been awesome to watch a lot of breweries make that transition in the past few years. I can only hope the trend continues.

As a dedicated Green Guy I must say I have mixed feelings about cans. Glass is a much better alternative. I am sure you think when you recycle cans you are evening things, but the truth is every can you buy is 70% NON recycled aluminum, and the more cans we use the worse it gets. Kudos to those breweries holding the line, especially the ones who do most distro in kegs and growlers.

I for one would really like to see more offerings in cans. I have not experienced that "canned beer taste" in the ones I do have. Cans are more recycling friendly and that's a bonus.
