That being said, if I drove 120mi specifically for this beer I would have signed up for the mug club, tried the beer, then wrote a email with the news article that didn't mention the mug club attached and my story to the owner asking to refund you the mug club membership fee.

If he/she didn't then I would have came on here and bashed them.

 

Your anger should be directed to the publication and writer who got the information wrong.

 

If I owned a brewpub, and somebody told me they drove 120 miles to try one of my beers, I would have fucking given them said beer in this case, regardless. Its not like there were only 2 glasses left or something. Lack of beer advocacy IMO.

 

Does the 'bad choice' in the title refer to you driving 120 miles for a beer without making absolutely sure it was available, getting butthurt over not getting your way, or starting this thread?

 

I agree with you, but he said the owner was out and only the wait staff was there. If I were the OP, I would call the owner and explain the situation. He may find it helpful.

 

I get that OP is perhaps overly rustled, but I have to agree that they should have just poured him a glass of beer. No contacting the owner needed. It's just a beer.

Unless, of course, he was being a dick about it. Only him and the bartender really know.

 

Here is a FACT!!! AS a mug club Member it has totally been promoted as a MUG CLUB MEMBER ONLY BEER SINCE ITS ANNOUNCEMENT...It WAS on their facebook, website, twitter as such...

Just because YOU took the word of some paper, is on YOU...The bartender also told you you HAVE TO JOIN THE MUG CLUB TO GET IT.. Yet you TOTALLY IGNORE THAT and then proceed to to call out the brewery like they made a mistake when YOU were the one who ignored everything and think maybe your special and should get special treatment.. Sorry, I dont feel sorry for you..Maybe you should actually read and listen before you make trips to breweries again..

 

Cool, so the next time I drive to dark horse, ill tell them I drove over 100 miles to try their BB Plead the 5th that it sitting in their VIP members only club...And then when they dont give it to me I can come here and bash them about not being true advocates and get your support...thanks..

 

Has the OP contacted the owners or management of the brewery to seek resolution? Or did OP just come here to attempt to start a boycott because he did not agree to the breweries policy in regard to this beer?

Dark Horse Is my Favorite Brewery of 2012! Never been there but it's on my to-do list this year..

It's all good. We've all been there before. You're at work early because the boss is on your ass, so you decide you're going to stick it to him by hopping on BeerAdvocate instead of actually getting work done. You do a general search for one of your favorite breweries and you see some anonymous jerk talking bad about them. Throwing caution to the wind, you vehemently lash out at the jerk poster and admonish his words and lack of action, correcting the error of his ways for him and showing the rest of this privileged community that not everything in life is free. You click the "Post Reply" button and sit back in your chair with a feeling of accomplishment, folding your arms because you sure told that guy! While leaning back, the boss walks by your desk and asks if you've finished the report for him, since you seem to be so content not typing anything at the moment. You mutter some curse words under your breath as he walks away and go back to that damn report that, for whatever reason, just doesn't seem to want to write itself. But nothing can bring you down now with your newfound sense of accomplishment, because you fucking told that one guy on the internet that he was wrong. Wrong, wrong, WRONG!

Like I said, we've all been there before
