You can choose only one type of beer to drink for the rest of your life: light or dark. Which do you pick? Why?

For purposes of this poll, light is 1-20, dark is 21-40. Cheers!

Light, I like lighter colored beer more than darker colored beer.

Also worth noting, I placed the first vote.

    11-30!

With that said, sometimes it's fun to brew a beer outside of what people visually expect. Hats off to Cigar City for their milk maid. This is fun to do!

[Sigh] Like choosing amongst my own children...

I guess I'd have to choose Dark. I just don't think I could live without Quads, Doppelbocks, and RISs. It's a depressing supposition, though!

Tripels, Saisons, and English Barleywines are my top favorite styles; so I am willing to go with lighter colored beers since they all fit those constraints.

I hate to say goodbye to 21-40, but 20 & below is more my wheelhouse.

Look like I evened it up. This was a really tough one. But I always surprise myself when I have a solid dark beer. It reminds me why I don't need to drink APA's, IPA's, IIPA's all the time.

Light, only because IPAs are my favorite. My God, do I love stouts, though.

I brewed a 'white' stout around the holidays last year. It was my White Christmas Stout. It actually looks like an amber but tastes, smells, and feels like a coffee stout. It's gotten some great WTF look from some of my friends.

Haha, I appreciate that you shared this! I think it forces people to reconcile what they think beer is with what beer can be.

I really tried to come up with an answer to this but my head started to throb and steam started escaping from my ears. I knew I was headed for thermal shutdown so I pulled the plug... I just like (and brew) too many styles that are either light or dark for me to decide.

I don't think I could do without Porters and Stouts. Plus I'm currently drinking a Shwarzbier...

I'd have to go with "lighter", both options are pretty broad so it makes the choice relatively easy for me. Top styles I drink on a regular basis are probably: Munich Helles Lager, Hefeweizen, Belgian Pale, English Porter and IPAs so 3 out of 5 wins

Props to the OP, can't remember seeing this (exact) thread topic before

Dark all day. Lighter beers are fine for the summer but if I could only have 1, Id choose dark beers all day.

I made it 50/50 again. haha

Light for me, great IPAs, berliners, sour blondes I could drink every day all day. I don't think I could do so with darker beers.

    I vote "Light"
I really have no preference, and my answer could have gone ether way. Trans flavor profiles exist on ether side, where the opacity of the beverage has little if any correlation to the malt or IBU. There are mitigating factors like adding "Kingsford Charcoal Briquets" (burnt barley) or burnt anything else for effect...
