Just got home from a great weekend in Asheville. But when I was at the Funkatorium yesterday I couldnt help but notice that the pours looked too hard. A lot of the snifters going out were half head. Am I wrong in this assumption, are they supposed to go out like that?

Did you get charged for a FULL beer or just a HALF? It's not suppose to be like that. It's either on purpose or they don't know how to pour properly.

I was charged full price. And I did think it was a fluke but I noticed everyone else at the bar had the same scenario.

My pours in May were spot on. I'm going with @msscott1973 theory and some new people were pouring.

keep in mind that they're putting eight ounces into a sixteen ounce ounce glass. you got exactly what you paid for.

I just don't recall that being indicated on the chalk board. Maybe I just overlooked it.

not sure if it's on the board or not but that's generally the largest pour you'll get anywhere when drinking a good sour.

True. I too have wondered how they know how much beer to put in the glass since there's no fill line, but I guess eyeballing a half full glass isn't too hard. You would think they'd want to be more exact about the whole process though.

They don't fill the glasses, it is an 8 oz pour as indicated above. No reason to fret, they know what they are doing! For those that got a full pour, good on you, you weren't supposed to!

At the funkatorium the pours vary and since most are sours they are always poured that way. It is rare that WW messes up.

Wouldn't it just be easier to serve them in the proper glassware?

Guys are complaining about 8 oz pours into a 16 oz glass, why not use the proper size glass for the pours your selling? They sell 10 oz tuleps and snifters.

I do believe there is an 8oz fill line on the snifter. I could be wrong. I could be thinking of the snifters at Burial. But I assume their the same, they looked the same and the graphics on the snifters were similar.

Any good beertender doesn't need a fill line. You pour all day every day you start to figure out what you're doing. Most of them could do a proper pour blindfolded.

And with barreled, matured, sours, Belgians, etc there's value in leaving air in that glass, much like you would with a wine, a good scotch, etc. I wouldn't want someone serving me a 21 year Bal in a shot glass - I want a little sniff and swirl room. Same with an oaked sour.

I just got back from Asheville and every experience at Wicked Weed has been great. The place this time of year is nuts and carnival-like, busy, but I have yet to have had anything but a great experience....and that goes for Asheville in general!

There is an 8oz fill line on the snifters from WW. I frequent the funkatorium and have never had bad pours there. Usually head to the top of the glass, but the right amount of liquid in the glass. Love that place.
