This may be my favorite BIF so far. @UcDru is blowing me away with AMAZING under the radar beer AND hitting wants along the way. @gmo_vr626 Appears to be really enjoying the beers I've sent him AND everyone else is having fun and seeing all sorts of new beers is great!

will admit, I missed yesterday. Had to fly out last minute in the morning (on United!) and had no checked baggage to take my daily present. I did take a picture on my way out the door, but being the older man in the thread, I forgot to post it. I should be home tonight to partake in Day 6, just might be late.

So, apologies. (@Mipper is a dick for calling us out )...

    Day 5 beer.

To come on top of what @Mipper said, part of the fun of the BIF is the nightly ****. Please make an attempt to post. I think everyone now has their beer (if not, please let me know).

At the very least, we are expected to drink these beers, not put them away for later. I know there are days (see above) that might have to wait, but the fun is making sure we do drink them.

Cheers All, and happy 12 Days of Summer!

A little "extra" **** from last night. See what I did there? Works on two levels...

Smog City Kumquat Saison. Another great beer from the overly generous extra box that @campa86 sent.

sorry for delay, but here is another winner from @ohyeahitsmuff I had this lovely BA before and I was happy to give to another go. super complex BA flavor with very little burn. shared this with the wifey while nibbling on cheese and crackers. Also opened today's Brew and Its a mega want for me im thinking of just calling in sick so i can drink it now.

And having now unwrapped today's bottle, I know why :grinning::grinning:

And after reading this, I'm even more floored by your generosity. I knew Casey was, in general, not easy to come by, but "1 day per month" AND a remote-as-hell location? Wow. Is there a secret password to get in, too?

I've had a couple of Casey beers and that Oak Theory is in my top 10 for sure. It's damn near perfect...

I tried to hit as many wants as possible even if you have had them before.

And I hope the one you are opening today has held up. I am not sure how it ages. I haven't had one in a few months. Feel free to supplement with some of the extras if it does not hold up.

Agreed, it was damn awesome. I've had the saison twice now, once at The Locals share and the other last night. @Kramerbarthomer do you happen to know how fresh/aged the magnum you sent was? It seems to have been a fairly different beer than what I had last night. Both were great, but I don't remember the strange aroma I got last night from the share, and I'm wondering if maybe age of the bottle (or batch variation) are the culprit.

Glad you agree with my assessment of it. The ratings aren't great for some reason but I thought this was a extremely enjoyable beer.

Not 100% sure, but I believe the Saison magnum was bottled at the end of November '14...

^This. @vitaminvert is pretty spot on here. When he first started selling beer about a year ago, Troy would sporadically make drops of Saison / East Bank at 3-4 bottle shops in Denver. He hasn't done that at all in the last 6-7 months. Now, a couple of bottle shops will make the trek up to Glenwood to bring bottles back down to Denver/FoCo to sell at their stores.

The only bottles that have made an appearance out side of Glenwood Springs are Saison, East Bank, Oak Theory (about 4-5 cases made it to Denver of one batch), and Brett Loves Citra (batch 1 made it last year, don't think the second batch is coming)...

In other words, it's generally not very easy to get your hands on any Casey stuff, with the exception of Saison & East Bank at the right stores in Denver or up in the mountains closer to Glenwood.... Hope that helps.

Thanks @Kramerbarthomer, the bottle I had lady night was a very recent bottling, so I'll assume either a little age mellows it or maybe batch variance.

I still have the B1 bottle you BIF'd me and another recent one, so I'll look forward to finding out for myself! Even sooner I'll look forward to a new Casey tick tonight!

I agree with you here. I usually like the Deschutes Reserves both aged and fresh, but I can see this one being better after the given date. Glad I got to try it fresh as well though.

@LehighAce06 -- This. Tasted it at the anniversary party, one of the best Saison's I've ever had. Blew some serious contenders (Bernice, for example) right out of the water, IMO.

I have the Saison in the fridge next to that Iris. Both will be consumed after 12 DOS.
