I realize this is the internet and, of course, there are always going to be dumb comments and things to sift through... That said, I feel like the discussion calibre of the General forum is, to put it politely, not up to par with this regional forum. Or, to put it less politely, it seems like there are more ***** there. Are most regional forums more focused in general, or is it a Pacific thing? Am I alone in this feeling? I like reading all of BA but lately I just spend my time in here because it seems like in the General forum threads quickly degenerate into nonsense
I use to get frustrated when I would see a "Where can I find Pliny" thread on here pop up every week, but on my recent trip to the east coast I would read the New England forum often and their "Where can I find heady" threads blow us out the water.
West Side till I die! I randomly look in the general forum and thats about it. I might click on it and read the first few comments, but if its over 50 comments theres no reason to post. I'm content laughing at CBK aka Moe, the Bruery society bitching and Bottle Logics 15min of fame!
I skip the general forum for the most part. I used to follow the shit out of beer releases section when I still lived in CA, in NW Louisiana that shit is just depressing. Nowadays I dwell here because of the RS/HS thread and in the South section.
I visit the General forum about once a month, quickly realize the mistake I've made and retreat to the Regional. I'm obviously partial to the Pacific, but when planning trips to the Northwest or New England I've found both forums to have great information and plenty of BAs happy to answer questions they've probably heard a thousand times before.
I second this. Have used both the NW and Great Lakes forums when planning trips and found the information and discussion in there to be pretty valuable and well organized. Not nearly as cluttered in there.
I mostly read the Pacific Forum threads, primarily because my interest is in local news and information. What's being released, which breweries are on the rise, what events are going on, etc. I read the General forum although less frequently and tend to just move on when a thread degrades into nonsense. Although, I could live without all the "If you could only have one ?????? for the rest of your life" questions. As though any of us would ever tolerate one beer choice.
NW I agree with, but the Great Lakes one seems pretty cluttered to me. Maybe I've just popped in on off days, but the Pacific forum seems much tighter than the GL one
