Better fix your mothers porch first...A little birdie told me something just dropped onto it today from the Queen City

 

So just something I want to share, because it's kind of cool -- I realized late this morning that a little dumpy grocery store near my office with a surprisingly good beer section had gotten Not Your Father's Root Beer in. It's literally one mile from my office, so I drove over there to pick up a couple of six packs. I picked up a coupld of other things, but couldn't find the NYFRB, when I noticed the assistant beer guy (who barely speaks English, but knows me). So he helps me find it, and says something that I was able to interpret as "next time you're here I will give you a glass"; and somehow I end up standing around waiting for him to dig up a glass for me (and I have very low expectations).

So while I'm waiting (and picking a few more beers) the main beer guy there (who is amazing -- we text back and forth about beer, and he's helpful and friendly and should own his own place) wanders in and we start BS'ing. And I tell him why I'm waiting, and he goes "oh nice -- let me tell him which glass to give you".

So now I'm getting intrigued, and about 30 seconds later they both come back -- it turns out they both thought of the same glass for me -- and it's gorgeous:



I just have to figure out what to pour in it! I just thought it was really cool how they were so nice to a customer (they're not in a position to give away or discount beer); this is just something I really appreciate. And maybe helps justify how much money I spend in their store (but probably not).

Just an aside -- one of the beers they had just gotten in was Maine Another One, and I picked up one bottle. And BOTH of them made a comment like "oh, you got Another One", which almost turned into a "Who's on First" routine. Twice.

 

Cool story. A bar a used to frequent in RI (which sadly just closed) had a problem with people stealing their delirium glasses so they started taking peoples' licenses as collateral whenever they served a beer in the glass. They had the pink elephant tap as the centerpiece of the bar.

So..........a Local Floridian that goes by the code name @valrxman just had his way with my porch!! I mean come on!!!!........we send a little love their way and he throws my porch over a barrel.....WHAM, BAM, Thank You MAM!! and leaves........no little sweet nothings whispered into my ear........no spooning........no mint on the pillow in the morning....nada.

It was brutal! I don't know if it can recover from this......




Wow....totally awesome and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! So many wants! All of the never hads look fantastic and all are right up my alley. Nothing was needed or expected in return my friend..............but none-the-less it is greatly appreciated.

This group is nothing short of awesome but we all already knew this...

First off @heystevec offered to pick up some DC Brau Solar Abyss for me which I said awesome just hold it and I will be back in Baltimore soon enough to pick it up from him he didn't have to ship it.

Steve sucks at following directions..



4 pack of Solar Abyss and somehow a CS Petite Sour Blueberry, Pirate Bomb and a 6 pack of SBJ snuck into the box. I sent my last Pirate away in Stouts and had a real hankering for another bottle and look what arrives.

The SBJ is for a VP at my wife's work who really loves it. It was complete surprise to me but here is the kicker his Birthday was July 4th so this is coming at a perfect time. You the freaking man Steve but no good deed goes unpunished....

Is it hard for you to find? I'll get it to you, I pass it by constantly.

 

Is any omega point still sitting around? It's a semi want of mine but I don't really want to get into "box debt" and would just look to be doing paypal plus label or even somehow in person hand off if it can somehow be arranged. Jeremy getting a bottle of it reminded me of it, and I've been huge on BA barleywines lately, a style I've really started to dig

It doesn't make much sense but after opening his front door for me he decided it was necessary to send me home with a '13 BCBBW which I think it a pretty outstanding parting gift. Edit: small footnote...Nick tried to send me out the door with 3 freaking beers (one of which he admitted he had never tried maybe both) but like Curtis Martin in his prime I was able to shake him and slip the tackle leaving with just the 1.
