Does anyone have any info on these guys and their progress on setting up their own space / gypsy brewing any type of release? Their twitter says "soon to be commercial in 2015" but I haven't been able to find much else despite the fact that they completely crush it at Huna day every year.
I too cannot wait for them to get production going. Their beers at Hunahpu day this were highlights to say the least.
I remember having a barrel aged stout from them several years ago and falling in love. I've been waiting not so patiently since then for them to expand production. Maybe someone from their camp is on here and can chime in?
Thanks for all the support. It means a lot to us. Hamp Covington and I are planning on gypsy brewing in both Georgia and North Carolina this year and have a few bottle releases and events in both states that will include many of our award winning beers. In 2016, expect a crowd funding campaign for MAZURT as we secure our own facility in the Atlanta metro area. We LOVE beer. www.untappd.com/MAZURTbrewingcompany www.facebook.com/MAZURTbeer http://www.twitter.com/MAZURTBeer
They are basically a local home brew outfit with friends at all the local breweries. I know they have been brewing at burnt hickory and on their home system. Great beers but all one style. Huge RIS s with different barrels and other flavor infusions. All small batches. Like 1 bbl at a time
The BA Ain't Got No Dime Barleywine at Hunahpu's was in my opinion even better than the Coconut MAZURT RIS. Also they had a very good Pale Ale at Classic City beer fest in 2014, And they have other things in the pipeline including possibly brewing in Fllorida where there is no ABV cap. The beers will be worth the wait .
That BA barleywine at Huna '15 was in my top 3 beers of the day. No line either after the coconuts were gone. I felt like I was a kid who stumbled into a never ending supply of Swiss Cake Rolls.
Me and you both! I was babbling to the guys behind the booth telling them how much I enjoyed it. I promptly bought a shirt after that. I need more of that in my life.
Another vote for Got no Dime as a top-3 beer at Huna Day, easily. And as a Deadhead, I love the name as well.
Crap, must have been great because I was impressed with the Coconut RIS even after drinking a CBS while in line for 3 Sons Summation. Man I miss Huna Day. To be fair, the beer could have tasted pretty average after watching them pour it literally from a coconut. #easilyamused?
These guys truly are great people and make great beer! So proud of them to see them starting to contract brew. We are very lucky to get to taste their beers every now and then at a tasting we have. I love all their brews I've tasted and they killed it at Huna. Congrats Dan and Hamp! Also, thanks to Wrecking Bar for putting on Got no Dime pretty often. I'm still waiting on Dan's "Drink within 21 days" IPA...ahaha.
