Reissdorf Kolsch is nice, as stated above. I love the SN Kolsch, too. I wish it was in 6pks.

I have to say, I am not a huge fan - I've had it in Cologne, and it was good to be sure. That said, maybe it's just my inexperienced palate, but I have trouble discerning enough of a difference between them to seek them out when there are many other styles I appreciate so much more.

    I love Kolsch.

Sadly, I'm often hearing it referred to as a lager from beer bar servers though.

Though the American interpretations can be good (I'll cite Schlafly's as example) the stuff from Germany is the best.

Drinking a Schlafly Kolsch right now, one of the best out there

I'm enjoying one right now... Summit Summer Ale. Sadly, Schell's seems to have retired their Zommerfest! :slight_frown:

I've been digging the kolschs lately with the warmer weather out there. I had the Sierra Nevada Kolsch recently, and I gotta say...that was fantastic. The Lancaster kolsch was a pleasant surprise. The CL Captain's Kolsch was good but the bottles definitely lack in comparison to the draft.

Gaffel is an old standby, but this thread just made me realize that there aren't enough out there. A great style when done right.

I am a Kolsch fan, I think I like true lagers like Pilsners or Helles a bit more, but there are plenty that I really enjoy. Of coarse as mentioned, Reissdorf is great and I like Sunner a lot for imports that I can find pretty fresh. Local options are Real Ale Kolsh (well this is retired, they need to make this again), Saint Arnold Lawnmower, and Karbach Love Street.

The only one I've had so far was Sierra Nevada's version from their summer pack, but that one ended up being my favorite beer of the pack (...and I thought they were all good, so it's definitely not a "one good beer in a pack of ehh beers" situation either.) I'd like to try more in the style at some point, but I'm not sure I've ever seen another one on the shelves around here, unfortunately.

I like that one by Carolina, I think it is called Blue Sky. Low rating, crushable

I love Captain's Kolsch, and the style as a whole. Victory's Kuhl Kolsch is one of the best beers I've had this summer

Metropolitan's (Chicago) Krankshaft is excellent. I'm working my way through a six pack now. It is really refreshing. Metropolitan primarily offers styles that aren't typically favored 'round these parts. They are quite good at what they do and I have yet to be disappointed in one of their beers.

I hate to say a thing like this because I don't rate beers, but I think the average reviewer doesn't understand this style. In fact, I think lagers and pilsners, generally, are severely underrated on this site because they're not the cat's pajamas. It stinks.

I love a good kolsch! All the lightness of a lager with twice the flavor, what's not to like? Out here in Eugene, Claim 52 makes a really good one.

Ithaca Daydreamer is very good, And at 7%abv its a hard hitting kolsch. Reissdorf may be tops. Sam Adams Escape Route is a fine example as well.

I really wish Kolsch was a more popular style... It's on my list to homebrew.
