    New Imperial Stout Sunday

    Hey NBSers,

    After a hiatus I'm back with a great one to share. I'm kicking off a week's vacation with some work news to celebrate, so I pulled out a beer I've been staring at for a long time (3 1/2 years long to be exact). I got it in my first real beer trade, and set a goal with this beer as a reward.

    Sexual Chocolate (2012) by Foothills Brewing of Winston-Salem, NC

    I chilled the bottle a bit, and have been enjoying it for over an hour now. A gorgeous mocha head at first has now settled to a trace around the glass. The aroma is cocoa and booze, though the alcohol note is different than most of the times I experience it, lower and not as hot in the nostrils. Lacing is fairly sugary. Cocoa dominates the taste, a little roast, and much less detectable booze than the nose would lead you to believe. It finishes sweet, like a dark chocolate cordial with some bitterness to keep it from cloying. This particular bottle faced some challenging storage conditions along the way, but aged gracefully and was totally worth the wait. 4.25/5
