When will Heady Topper be overtaken as #1?

People will treat the next top beer the same way.

Being #1 on this subjective list doesn't make it the best beer...just the most consistently enjoyed.

Even if it wasn't, it would still get just as high, if not higher ratings.

That is indeed a poignant question.

Heady Topper is indeed an excellent beer for my palate. The 'challenge' is that once a beer gets hyped up to the level of being Number 1 (for an extended period of time) people who drink this beer for the first time expect the hear Celestial Choirs singing and BIG beams of sunlight coming from the heavens. None of these events happened for me but I did have a big smile on my face as I drank my can of Heady Topper which is good enough for me.

    Cheers!

I kinda miss the days when Westy 12 was the most sought after beer on the trade forums.

Do we really need a new separate thread for this? At least the PTE hype threads seemed to have waned.

I was also very impressed with it, but there was no chorus heavenly or blinding revelation. It's just a really, really good beer. I liked it enough to have it a couple more times, but the expense and difficulty of obtaining it out here in California turned me back to drinking locally available brews.

The only chance of that happening is if (now that TG has their brewer back) KBBS begins to be mass distributed while holding the same quality... yea like that would ever happen

Heady is consistently delicious. Everyone has different tastes, though... I like Pliny better, even though I've never had it as fresh as I've had Heady. SoS I've had a couple of times and it's as good as Heady. Hell, I'm almost happier with a Night Shift Whirlpool than I am with a Heady. And I like Fiddlehead Mastermind more than any other beer I've had. But subjectivity is subjectivity, and more people like Heady than any other beer (on this site, among people who rate).

Getting so lame waiting in line with the grandmas, grandpas, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who are on vacation with nothing to do but get to each delivery early and wait for Heady Topper and Sip of Sunshine.

I prefer Focal to Heady quite a bit. Huge fan of both, though.

I feel availableity and accessability should play a HUGE role is beer ratings. Heady, while fantastic, is hard to get. And Ive never had KBBS so to say they are the top is ridiculous. And most people rate them so high because of the hype on sites like this.

I believe Heady will remain at the top for awhile and here's why. I am a huge Stout guy, BBAged preferably. Heady was my white whale for a few years. People promised and never delivered etc. I finally went on a trek and did well, scored 10 - 4 packs. I was doubtful that it would live up to the hype but now that I've had a few I must say I'm very impressed. The flavor is amazing and has staying power like no other.
