The Livery does some outstanding stuff and they have managed to stay virtually unknown. August 22, hmmm...

It is weird that they don't get hype, given how good some of their bottled stuff is, and their proximity to Chicago.

I think it's tough to get those people that are out of the area to "hype" The Livery, when they don't distribute kegs outside of Michigan and only do bottle releases through the brewpub.

Doesn't exactly put your name in front of people that often. Ya know, brand recognition and such....

Strongly considering going to this over fury for a feast this year. Both sound incredible but I'm giving the edge to the Livery myself due to being able to get bottles for later consumption. I personally think The Livery and Witches Hat are the two most underrated breweries in the state

Its starting to look more like I am going. A few questions:

Are the festivities held inside? They are not that huge. I want to make sure I get what I came for so I worry about crowds.

    Will they fill howlers/growlers?

I'll be going through there on Sunday...anyone think there is a chance some stuff is still around then?

Yes, bottles should still be there for sure.

Now to just convince the wife to stop there on the way back from Traverse City, but hopefully that won't be too difficult. Never been to The Livery but have it on my list of MI breweries to hit up based on all the recommendations from here.

Benton Harbor, where The Livery is located is 5 minutes from St. Joseph, great beach town with nice restaurants and a really nice public beach. Should be enough to sell her on.

The party will be inside and outside!

DJ Danny Boy spins under the canopy in the beer garden...and there is a beer hut outside to get pours. (Usually mainstay/seasonal stuff)

Bottle release is typically at the downstairs bar, which will also be pouring beers. (Most beers are available downstairs)

The bands will play on the stage inside at the upper bar. All nitro/firkins/handpull/barrel aged beers will be available upstairs.

So, with 3 pouring stations, I think it will help spread the crowd. Shouldn't be worse than a couple minute wait for beer at any point.

As for growlers/howlers, I don't think they will fill any of the special releases.....especially when they are all in bottles.

There will be bottles left on Sunday, although I would not expect any of the sour beers to be left. You may get lucky on a couple though.

The Maillot Rouge and Cherry Friek are re-releases and have very limited bottles, compared to the other limits.

Old Man Mason (Barley Wine) has been cellared for over a year before being released.....was told very few bottles even exist. If you've had this on tap at The Livery, you know it won't last long.
