It's 2015, isn't every weekend at every beer bar a "Hop Head Throwdown" now?

I hope that I can make this. That pulled pork sandwich was mighty good last time. Spicy, but delicious.

 

fortunately, I just moved into Washington Square and am actually staring longingly at the Publick House from the s'bucks across the street as we speak... CANNOT WAIT for this.

 

I'll be there. The beer list makes my wallet hurt tho.

 

Kinda funny they are getting an Oxbow keg when they don't really make an IPA?

Anyways this sounds like an awesome event and I wish I was in town that day to go to it.

 

I have participating in this event many times. I great time for a great cause with awesome beers and food!

 

They've made a few in the freestyle series and Grizzacca is pretty hoppy.

 

Ah, haven't kept up with their freestyles. They defintiely have hoppy beers just funny because they are not really who I think of it when it comes to a "Hop Head" event.

That said, I'm stoked to see a keg of their beer in Boston and I hope we start to see more of it. Awesome brewery cranking out really interesting brews.

With the raging popularity of IPAs these days in comparison to when this event first began, I wonder if there would be interest in a different “throwdown”.

Maybe a “sour mash” (get it), a lager throw down (with gravity kegs), a US/UK cask ale event, a Belgium throw down…etc.

 

Sounds like fun. Incredibly stupid question, but is this going to be a madhouse all day long? Going to have dinner with some friends in Brookline that evening, and would love to stop in for a couple beers and support a good cause, but don't want to fight a crowd at 4pm...

 

I think they are more busy right after opening because people want to get the coveted beers. Then it sort of thins out later in the afternoon after stuff kicks.

Hard to gauge the crowd this year since they skipped last year and popularity for beer things seem to rise exponentially each year. It could be crazy all day.

 

I can't see it not being crowded all day or at least till the gems kick. The OH tap takeover got destroyed. The beer list for this event is better and it is for a good cause.

 

For those who have gone do you need to get a full pour or do they offer half pours or something similar?
