Both times he cites JK people as his sources, I would hope that if that isn't accurate that JK would say so.

Hope not. 2500 Atrial bottles is ridiculous for their "flagship" sour.

    Oh please.

First, they can make as much or as little as they want, it's their decision, we're not entitled to anything. Second, I HIGHLY doubt Jester King would make any beer with the idea that it would be somehow not their "flagship" beer. Maybe it's lip service, but JK preaches that they make beer they want to make. I really doubt they're driven by somehow showcasing Atrial over another beer they make.

Whether Jester King designated Atrial as their "flagship" beer or not, it's still what they are known for. Or should I say, their most popular beer. It shows up on all the lists of "best sours" and whatnot.

No, nobody is entitled to anything and I didnt get that sense from the poster you quoted, but I too think it sucks that Atrial is such a small bottle count if it is in fact only 2,500 bottles.

I think it sucks that Atrial is 2,500 bottles... I was hoping for a 300-bottle release

a 300 bottle batch where ~300 or so more marked XXX/300 make it into circulation through brewery employees trading out the beers for whales?

not that that would ever happen

These details on this year's Fen Tao release are accurate.

Info on this year's Fen Tao release stamp? I hate carrying around all this acetone in my car if it's not gonna do the trick.

That's because it was the first, and blew everybody's hair back. Then the blogosphere perpetuated the mania, where writers from beer mags who have never even been to Texas just keep parroting "Atrial Atrial Atrial" on all their lists because it's easy. It's almost as lazy as calling Shiner the Texas beer. So it became the flagship walez bro because of nerds who get their opinion on what's the best beer from the intrawebz and trade forums instead of their tastebuds. The process reinforces and feeds on itself like an ouroboros.

Atrial is an admittedly great beer, and maybe even the best JK, but not for the reasons people think it is. Nocturn, Aurelian, etc are all every bit as worthy.

Thanks for writing this. One of the major reasons we made much more Fen Tao than Atrial this year is because we like Fen Tao better. The limiting factor was the amount of mature Das Uberkind we had to blend, and we decided to devote more Das Uberkind to peaches than raspberries.

I would not call Atrial Rubicite, nor any beer we make, our flagship. The closest thing we have to a flagship would be Le Petit Prince, because this is our favorite beer we make, and we brew it slightly more often than our other beers.

Great now they're going to name a beer something like Spurning Ouroboros

This last batch of Nocturn was incredible for me! I would compare it to the several de Garde fruited Bu that I had in Tillamook. Every bit as good!

The real question is, how much Uberkind was devoted to apricots?

The Aurelian Lure yield, assuming the refermentation progresses well, should be close to Fen Tao.
